I recently chopped 2"s off my fenders and flares. I'd like to have some inner fender well liners to clean up the appearence since the stock ones don't cover well now and it kinna looks like crap.

I know some people run without them and just paint the wheel wells but has anyone done anything like this? I'm thinking some kind of durable sheet of plastic and cut to fit. Any ideas?

Those are the stock flares. I cut 2 inches off bottom. Installed door edge trim over cut. Drilled holes out where clips were and installed bolts with washers/nuts. Cut 2"s out of truck fenders. 5ECD7EEB-76CE-4312-B82D-D78C0E4ECF57_e054656bbbc598ebe4a65169dbba3d59115d2635.jpg

I left metal tabs and folded them in 90 degrees to use as fastening points. See above pic of cut out.

Not trying to steal your post but I have a issue where the tabs on my flares have broke so they rattle going down the freeway how did you add those clips in your fenders to hold them on tight

Take your flare off. Basically rip it off. The clips will break but you won't need them anymore. Every place a clip went in the flare drill a hole right through. I believe I used 5/16" x 1.5" long. Then just bolts flares on. Washer and double nut in the back.

Here's other post on it: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/bolt-on-flare-mod-poor-mans-bushwhackers.388131/

HDPE Plastic sheeting, its what a lot of the Rally guys use to make skidplates and fender liners when they blow out the stock ones, and that stuff will take a beating. you can get it from mcmastercarr under thier plastics section, comes anywhere from 1/8" to 1" IIRC, the 1/8" or 3/16" should do fine for fender liners, but if you make a skidplate id go 1/4" to be safe

I see online we have a local supplier of hdpe sheets in the city. I will check it out this week. I'll post result or info.

You got to just get creative with the liners. I used this vinyl flooring:

I cut it to fit and riveted it to the sheetmetal. Painted with rubberized undercoating.

Did the same for the rear. The whole liner project was very laborous and shitty and would not want to do it again.

Thanks bud! The only reason I made those liners is because if you wheel in mud without liners, you will have mud in areas of your truck you never thought possible. It gets everywhere. If it wasn't for the mud problem, I wouldn't have liners.

What have you guys used to not get water in your airbox after removing the front liners?

Just started the cutting/ripping out work today and I'm figuring out if I immediately have to go with a snorkel.

You will have to relocate your intake tube from the fender. I installed a Volant intake just for this reason, because it has an port that sucks air from behind the grill/headlight area.

I plugged the fender intake hole in the Volant with a threaded plumbing cap:
