Instead of using a traditional Led strip to make mine I used whats called a chip on board (COB). This little thing is 4.72 inches long and produces 10 watts of power. Oh did i mention it was $3.51 :D

    Materials
    -Soldering Iron with solder
    -Heat shrink
    -Alligator clip
    -Washer connector
    -COB Light
Here is the link for the one I bought

    Soldering
The set up is pretty simple, I soldered the positive and negative pads to some 16 gauge wire. I then heat shrinked the whole thing to provide some waterproofing and protect the wires from when I run them through the hood.

    Mounting/Wiring
I wont lie COBs get hot after extend use, granted the whole backing is metal. I used JB weld to mount the COB on the underside of the hood. The JB weld will help transfer the heat to the hood. While the JB was drying I place two pieces of guerrilla tape to hold it in place. As for the wiring I ran as much as i could through the supports of the hood. At the other end I crimped an alligator clip on the positive and a washer connector to the negative. The washer connector was attached to a grounded bolt and the alligator clips rides on the top of the batter strap. I was going to use a switch but realized mounting a switch would be rather difficult.

Being able to run the wire through the hood most of the wire is hidden. You can also see the Alligator Clip on top of the Battery.

When It gets dark Ill post a picture of the finale result

Good idea. Did the same as well. Used some epoxy to cover the entire board to prevent shorting. Then used the same epoxy and put some neodymium magnets on the back. So i can move if needed. But i think i have enough light so moving them isn't an issue.
