Figured I’d make a thread on my very custom grille emblem... let me know what y’all think.
I have an aftermarket mesh grille, with no emblems on it it looked a bit too boring for me. I couldn’t find any aftermarket Toyota badges for sale, so I made my own- from the OEM badge off the OEM grille.
I painted the badge red, then trimmed the tabs that held it in the stock grille as shown,
B92EE0BC-7F00-4C9B-AFC2-7BA834F0482D.jpg so it would lay flat against the mesh. I left the two long because they fit into the mesh just right and help keep the badge in place.
Next, I got some 2” Philips head machine screws/bolts, a couple of wing nuts and some JB Weld. It took a couple of tries, but I filled the channels in the back of the badge and glued the heads of the bolts in, being sure to make sure they would line up to go through the grille mesh. I threaded the bolts through the mesh and tightened down the wingnuts, and done.

Looks nice. Is that jb weld? I’d suggest to touch the end of the screws with some locktite, so if your wing nuts come loose they won’t complete back out, fall off, then the whole thing falls off.

It’s wedged on by the two little tabs, it would probably it fall off, but that’s a good idea.
