Recently upgraded to an AppRadio 3 and wanted to add some bass to my stock (2007) speaker system for now until I can upgrade the component speakers. I set out with a single 10" in mind and after hours of research, and some cardboard r&d on box layout, etc. I decided to go with:

    - 1 Alpine Type S 10" sub (sws-10d4) - $80 on Amazon
    - Alpine MRV-m500 mono amp - $150 on ebay
    - Build my own custom box - ~$30 3/4" mdf, harware, etc.

I've got carpentry / woodworking skills so the latter would not be an issue. The hard part was figuring out what I could get behind DC back seat with minimal clearance, while keeping close to manufacturer's recommended volume for the box. After a little trial and error I got it completed this weekend and this setup rocks! Friend of mine couldn't believe it was a single 10 vibrating my truck like that.

Here's a pic of my box. It sits below the child restraints. I ghetto-secured them for the time being with straps and heavy-duty staples until I can implement a more elegant solution. This forum has been a great help so thought I'd share my results.

    Box: 18.5w x 12 5/8h x 8 1/4d bottom, 5 1/2 top

As you can see, had to remove the plastic from back of passenger seat. This is with the seat back but not locked in. The cloth touches the top of woofer surround but no issues. I've got a 2x4 block glued to face of box so seat will rest against that if pulled forward, protecting the sub
