Been on here for over a year and have yet to create a thread outside of the new member forum. Figured this though deserves a share.

Over in the armor forum there is a good thread about DIY sliders for the second gen from @1 Bored Clerk
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/diy-bolt-on-frame-plates-for-sliders.302192/
I was able to take his files and adapt them to the third gens.
Note:Currently only have templates for Double Cab Short beds. Access cabs may work with these but I have no means of checking myself. These will not work on a DCLB

Now as these are essentially 1 Bored Clerk's files with a little twist by myself Im adding his stipulations for these.

(incase you didnt open the quote)
**DISCLAIMER** You are downloading and using these files at your own risk. No contributors to these files and designs have verified the strength or safety of this design. Due to manufacturing tolerances from Toyota as well as the tolerances found in the cutting/bending process, We cannot guarantee that any frame plate made directly from this file will fit your particular vehicle.

Disclaimer above applies to the modified sliders as well. I am not an engineer. I will absolutely agree these are not the strongest design and can be improved, and please do so and share. If you intend to use these files it is at your own risk and your responsibility to ensure the product is strong enough for your intended uses and are you are solely responsible for any damages that may result.

    Attached Files:

Space Plates.SLDPRT: Solidworks 2016 part file of the spacer plates to accommodate a change in the frame from the 2nd gens to the 3rd gen.

3rd_Gen-DCSB_FRAMEPLATE_SW2016_BENT.SLDPRT: Solidworks 2016 part file of the main plates bent to spec (model can be unbent if needed)

3rd_Gen-DCSB_FRAMEPLATE_CUT_TEMPLATE-SINGLE.dwg: DWG of the flat pattern for a single slider. This is the file most laser/plasma/water jet services need. You will need two sets of these cut and bent in a mirror image.

AC_DCSB_GeneralDimensions_23DEC2013.pdf: PDF of the second gen plates with bend dimensions and general overall dimensions. I do not have one of these for the modified 3rd gen plates but they are for all intents and purposes the same.

    Now my personal build:

Plates after I picked them up from the laser cutter and laid out.
    20170411_104816.jpg

    first test fit.
    20170411_174837.jpg

    Start of fabrication.
    20170422_161334.jpg

    Getting it all welded together
    20180211_153304.jpg

    Test fit on the truck
    20180211_132858.jpg

And how they are currently sitting waiting for me to get enough money saved so I can go get them powder coated.
    20180211_162940.jpg

Ill admit this is probably in the running for the worst write up/ project log on this forum but ill come back and update as I think of details to add of if it can help answer any questions.

Notes: the space between the front plate and the larger plate is about 6 5/8. I say about because I decided to tack them In place on the truck to get a precise fit and alignment but if you are unable to do so refer to the OAL in the PDF of the second gen.

The square tube coming off the front plate is about 1/4" shorter to allow for an X shaped plate on the frame and the spacers if you are using 3/16 thick material. I will advise you double check this number yourself.

Do you have a full size PDF that can be printed and mocked up?

I really like your front kick-out design. I am working on my own sliders too. Many people have commented that powder coating was a waste of money because you need to touch-up paint the trail scratches. I plan to Dura Bak Berliner my Sliders.

No doubt powder coat wouldnt hold up to sliding across rocks but I'm not planning on wheeling that hard, I have to get to work the next day and if I ever did drop on them hard enough to chip powdercoat I'll take it as it is and be thankful I didn't tweak my cab.

Why wouldn't the plates work on DCLB?

DCLB's have a different frame and I have no way to access one to make the needed modifications.

Moved shops, got a new weld table and finally got the filler plates for the kick out welded in. Bolted them on tonight and gave them a wipe down with some linseed oil and road testing them this week before I get them powdercoated.

How much did all this cost? You did the fun part of doing the drawings! Now I get to modify the drawings and make it my own somehow lol

Thanks for making them as SLT’s too so I can use Inventor
