Looking to possibly add ditch lights to the Tacoma ('22 Sport, MT). Any recommendations? Also, suggest amber or white?

I went with Rigid DSS pro series and purchased removable amber covers for them. They work great. Install was straight forward.

If you want install help, message me and I’ll try to answer any questions you have. no need to go out and pay for someone.

Thanks @USPfan. I've watched a few install videos on YouTube and it looks pretty straightforward.

Do you use them for night driving on dark roads or just for running the trails?

Everyone you know is going to laugh at you for installing ditch lights on your bone stock truck that you don't actually off-road in. Let alone at night.

Yeah, I know, you're going to claim you do off-road, but your post told me that you don't. Riding over a curb isn't off-roading.

100% don't offroad...but drive some dark back country roads. Looking for extra light options in addition to the stock LEDs and fog lights.

Diode Dynamics or Baja Design squadrons.

If you want something cheaper....I liked how my caliraised ditch lights performed when I had them, but didn't like the appearance of them. I now run Baja Design ditch lights and Diode Dynamics SAE fogs. Both yellow/amber.

The guy is a must-have for the Ignore List.

OP- Diode Dynamics makes very nice stuff and has good support.

I don’t off road everyday, but use my “ditch” lights to illuminate the ditch along the side of an extremely curvy, dark road to the house that deer like to jump out in front of me. They are very useful.

There's actually a couple of really good options out there, but I'll ask the million dollar question first. What kind of budget are you working with? If I told you ~$400 for light, brackets, and wiring harness would you drop dead, or are you willing to pay for quality to get the right goodies?

I'm frequently in Rural AZ and would like to put Ditches on because turning into and out of driveways and roads is often precarious on nights with no moon or heavy cloud cover.
Given our dust here, I'd be more inclined to go amber for my application. I don't need a ton of light so looking at the smaller low profile 1x2 set ups.

Would be pretty cool if Toyota started making these part of the rear view mirror assembly - Hint Hint @Toyota!

It ain't worth $400 - until it is...
Or said another way, it isn't worth $400 until you spend $2000 to get your truck towed out of a ditch and repaired.

You don't even have to offroad to warrant ditch lights. Hell, when I'm out "offroading" I don't even use mine usually. Mine are mostly campsite finders, critter spotters, and aux campsite lights. Don't let the asshats on here discourage you from doing what you want to your truck - unless its adding raptor lights

@memario1214 - Yeah, ouch $400 = an angry wife. A bit more economical range ~$200ish usd (pods, wiring, bracket).

    Bingo

Of course I sell the stuff so I am going to be assumed biased, but I have always been an advocate for spending the money on most things, but especially lighting. Being able to quickly and accurately identify obstacles at speed can be a life saver. Literally.

I can get you pretty close to that, and get you a quality setup to boot. I just wanted to put the litmus test out there to see where your starting point was. I'll shoot you a PM with some details. :D

Agreed - If I can get the job done for $200, then I don't need to pay $400. But it is still worth $400. ;-)

The caliraisedled kit I think is just under $200 for brackets, lights, wiring, and switch. That's probably the best bang for your price range. If you ever want some better lights or just different ones, you should be able to re-use the wiring with a little handy work. Switch and mounting bracket will also work fine with any other lights down the road.

I run these in a spot pattern to wider my light spread at distance to help with deer spotting. My close up lighting spread is done by diode dynamics ss3 pros in a sae fog pattern fills in the gap nicely

After running a variety of diode, BD and rigid I will comment that BD has the best colour temp hands down for white lights. I'm of the opinion of headlight and higher should very white lower than head lights amber/yellow is best. I find BD to have the best display for colour and the lowest eye fatigue. This crazy super white light is a bit over rated.
All 3 have excellent beam pattern options and you won't be disappointed in that regard.
Only other note is if these back roads your driving are gravel make sure the brackets are stout. The light shudder on thin cheap brackets will drive you to drink.
