About to throw some ditch lights on the Tacoma. I was wondering if you can still take the truck through a automated car wash and not damage them. Or is it just hand washing from here on out? This might be a deal breaker for me...

Wouldn't know as I don't trust automated Car Washes, I always do it by hand, or at least Touchless. I am sure there are signs at the beginning of the Car Wash that state " Not Responsible For Loss or Damaged Accessories In The Car Wash. " At least I know the one near me has that.

If you care about your paint, I'd avoid using scratch-washes in general.

I've taken mine through with the lights on...seems to be fine. I always do get worried they could be damaged though.

If you use brushes at the car wash............Ditch the ditch lights, or the wash will do them in sooner or later.....

Get the lights and wash it in yer driveway.... Car washes are "cruelty to Tacos" and should NOT be promoted..!!

Yeah, I'm up in the GWN...(Great White North), and I do NOT wash the truck myself till spring, unless it really needs it bad... then I do the $2.00 "Bay Wash" thing myself...... She gets a real good polymer coating before winter... and it lasts well till spring...!

Good luck with it man.... The "Do-It-Yourself" thing is what I'll use in winter..... mainly to get the salt and crud off.!! NO brushes touch MY Taco unless they are from MY pail...!! (and she has to wait till spring for that)...!!

Personally, I either get her hand-washed by myself or at the car wash... But every once in a while when I'm in a rush I'll go though a touch-less car wash that pretty much uses pressured water/soap(only contact point is brushes to clean your wheels/tires)

I’ve had mine on for over a year and have never had an issue, CBI mounts with Baja Designs S2 lights.

In my honest opinion when you drag these 30K plus mechanical marvels through ditches and mud holes and over rocks and through creek beds your worried about the paint? It’s that not an oxymoron? At that point the brushes are the least of your problems on the paint.

OP I would suspect if using a brush wash those brushes are going to grab those lights and either bend them or snap them off and do some harm to the rest of your truck. If using a brushless wash also known as worthless, I don’t see a problem having them on.

My wash that I go to does not allow even the hitch ball to be installed. Not that it will damage my vehicle. I’m guessing the wash equipment.

Most washes do post disclaimers on non OEM equipment installed.

That the above being said use the gray matter between the ears and make your judgement call.

I have ditch lights on my 2nd gen and I take it through the automated car wash once a week no issue.
