If you can get a hold of one, and dealer doesn’t pull some bullshit on you

edit. I just looked at my 2 local dealer websites. No prices listed for new trucks in stock. One of them has a 78 Mercedes sedan for sale though. Probably way over priced for a car that way too expensive to fix/maintain.

Yea it takes work, always does. More so now but certainly doable.
Hell I was looking a G Wagen and they wanted 100k markup last week, a dealer 20miles down south had it at sticker.
It isn’t hard/doesn’t take long to figure it out

I had a pretty bad experience with that dealership last year when I was shopping for my 21. They try to pull tricks on you and change the price multiple times, I walked out and got my truck from earnhardt toyota instead, not the greatest dealer but better than camelback for sure.

Fortunately when I picked up my truck, I skipped over az and went to New Mexico. I got a bad vibe right away with camelback, felt like lots of empty promises.

I haven't shopped for a new Tacoma, but there are many reports of dealers selling Tacoma with "market adjustments" of $5-10K. TRD Pros +$20K

Judging from the reports on TW, dealers are selling trucks faster than they arrive, almost none in stock at most locations. And buying at full MSRP is today's version of "I bent the dealer over the barrel and broke it off in his ass"

There’s more crappy dealerships than good ones but it’s in no way limited to today or Toyota. 50 years ago when I was in high school I worked at a couple of dealerships in my small town (International Harvester, and Chrysler) and some of the stuff I witnessed would turn my stomach. Sleezy doesn’t do justice to how some of the salesmen acted. On the flip side, I had a very good experience buying my taco. Internet deal with a couple of phone calls, one hour at the dealership doing paperwork.

I am 1000% onboard with taking down dealerships that pull this shit (most of them) but honestly, the suggestions of writing to corporate are going to do absolutely nothing. Toyota corporate customer service is a fuckin' joke. It will become a game of passing the blame back and forth between dealer and corporate. You'd be better off spending your energy trashing the dealer's name with reviews. Maybe report them to the BBB.

They are owned by Berkshire but they are a VanTuyl store thru and thru. They have been doing stuff like that for over 20 years. And most of the dealers on Camelback are Berkshire except for a few ( Coulter, Chapman, Courtesy) and he owns several dealers all over the PHX area.

Unfortunately this kind of stuff happens . Especially with low inventory it’s basically a selling market at the moment.right now is the worst time to purchase a vehicle . Sorry this happened to you.

The VIN # and their stock # is on the paperwork, but they didn't take the money.

Peoria was straight up with their Market Upcharge so gotta respect that. Camelback Toyota told me (in an email) that they'd waive their $2,500 uncharge because they had just gotten a load of trucks in.

Only reason I allowed the credit run was because they said they needed to verify who I was since I was writing a check....dumb on my part, I guess....hindsight is 20/20

I have dealerships from AZ, NV, GA, and even FL letting me know when they get Tacomas that match what I'm looking for. I have confidence that I will get it! If I'm unable to get a 2021, then I will wait patiently for when they are able to take orders for the 2022s.

Thanks for everyone's empathy, input and suggestions. I did a lot of posting.....reported to BBB, filed a BBB Scam Report, reported to State of AZ Consumer Dept, posted numerous reviews, let the Tacoma people of the world know, etc.

I hope that Camelback Toyota loses some business, but most of all, I hope that they will change their dishonest & unethical business practices. This is a way to make a sale, but definitely not the way to retain customers or make them want to return to make future purchases.

That sucks this happened on so many levels.

People more worried about a frikin dollars than integrity. That is what makes so much of today’s society the shit pile it is. No ethics or morals. Shit always gets me riled up. I’m too Pollyanna and should have been born in a different era maybe.

How about instead of them fucking over the OP for $500 more, they treat him well and sell it to him. He is happy and sends referrals there, They get more business that way. Bunch of a-holes. Don’t even get me started on door to door vacuum salesman
