You're absolutely right, I was a little dyslexic. It was TIRE DISCOUNTERS, not DISCOUNT TIRE. I'll edit my original comment.

No I read that, again it's free. Hidden in the cost yes. You want better service than you have to pay for it. Walmart is cheap and has long lines. Brookshires is more expensive but gets you in and out and takes the grocerys to your truck to load them. You want better service pay for it but don't complain about the cheap tires and crappy service. They are the one of the cheapest places to get tires. Or again do it yourself.

Then perhaps I'm confused. I've bolded the section I'm referring to. Did you arrive for your appointment on time, and then it took them another 1hr 5mins prior to them starting to work on the truck? Or did you simply wait 1hr 5mins total while they completed the requested work/service? If they blew off your appointment and it took them 1hr 5mins prior to starting to work on your truck, I agree. I'd be pissed too they didn't honor the appointment or at least tell you they are running behind. If their total service completion time was an hour and 5mins, and they started working on your vehicle at the scheduled appointment time, then it is what it is. You're lucky they did the job right, and even worked on a truck with wheel spacers on, as my local DT have a policy that prevents that. FWIW, average time for a tire rotation and balance here locally is 45mins-1hr 15min in my experience.

OP, I didn't read all 5 pages to see which DT you went to, but if it was the Encinitas store, I've been going there for 10+ years, 3 sets of tires, countless rotations, and about 1/2 dozen nails removed between my wife and my vehicles and I've never had anything BUT exceptional service at that location.

That doesn't mean that you didn't have, or maybe you're referring to another store, but since you're in Carlsbad, I'm only sharing with you that the Encinitas store has always treated my wife and me great.

Maybe so. My tires I had installed rub at full lock. The mech suggested new wheels EVENTUALLY but didn't push on it so that was nice then again he cranks wrenches and isn't invested in sales as much I'd think

Too many people are hating on a business owner because he is pushing for what is best for his company. The amount of money it would cost Discount Tire when it's legal is outrageous. Employees do it because it's legal, then come to work and get hurt and then they get sued for millions. IMHO, he may have alternative motives, but from a business point of view it makes sense for him to be against it.

This incident was at the Encinitas store. This was the second time it happened. Guess I was just unlucky there

I think you're sadly mistaken in how it would affect his company. Discount tire hasn't made it ok for their employees to use marijuana. They still drug test so you sir, are misinformed. There are alternative motives for the article I've linked.

Yes I was on time, 5 min early actually. They didn't start on my truck for 40 min after I got there. The guy off the street went in a few minutes after mine. My truck was done in 30 minutes. That's after a discussion with MO the manager who argued with me. I could understand a few minutes, but 40? I went out of my way to be on time. This in turn begs the question, how long would it have been if I didn't speak up? If I did as most people here and was just complacent? We get screwed all the time as consumers. Why is that? It's displayed in writing in this thread.

They haven't made it legal for people to drink alcohol either, but unfortunately people still do it and show up to work. It is a problem that most large companies face and it costs them a lot of money to deal with these problems.

That is the most scared thing to say and do about the topic. It has nothing to do with having deep interests and investments in big pharma or anything huh?

Exactly how many of these made up scenarios have actually happened? It's been legal for awhile now here where I'm from.

Just because they made a donation to the same campaign as a pharmaceutical company doesn't mean that is why they are doing it. In all honesty, the whole article and both of our opinions are just speculation about what somebody thinks. I will agree that he has his own reasoning for doing it and none of us really know what that is. Maybe he genuinely believes it is wrong and he is standing up for what he believes? I just think it is wrong that so many people are making a big deal about it. If you don't like it...shop somewhere else.
