Do people generally buy this? This is for 5 Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws (5th one is for spare) 265/75/16s

This offers a full 100% replacement for any reason as long as the tread is I think 3/32" or greater. Not prorated, 100% full coverage. I do plan to take these offroading on easy to moderate trails.

    Is this coverage worth it?

I have not gotten it on 3 or 4 sets now, but I'm curious to what others think.

Had one tire replaced in that time (nail in a Blizzak).

i don't buy it when I order the tires, but the last couple sets when I went to get them installed they offered me the certificates for 50% off.. still not sure I really need them but with the abuse mine have taken at times I figured I might as well.

I'm curious about the fine print. Do you HAVE to use DTD for installation/rotations? That would determine whether or not they'd be worth it for me. If you only have 1 DTD within a 200 mile distance from you, maybe not worth it. If you have one fairly close, probably more than worth it.

I never purchased this coverage until my last set. Tire costs have went up quite a bit and all the construction in my area made it a smart choice.

I remember a couple years ago these tires in LT265/70/18 were under 200.00 each after all taxes and fees. Now…not so much.

I used it once for my 285 ko2s. You have to pay a 50 dollar deductible when they replace the tire. I think it’s a goood deal

If you wheel at all - especially in any rocks - I would say buy the protection. I used it 3 times on two different sets of wheels (1 valve replacement and 2 replacements from sidewall damage) and was super happy I had the protection and didn't have to pay any labor or anything... But if you don't off road at all then I doubt it would be worth it.

Yep. Replace one tire and it pretty much pays for itself. Takes one good rock off-road and bam flat tire.

I buy the coverage every time and have used it several times after flats caused by both road debris and potholes. No questions asked each time.

My last two cars, I've used it on 2 tires out of the 4 for each. Sedan was on expensive Michelin all seasons, BMW was on Michelin Pilot Sport 4s - big money. Saved me a ton.

I have it on my truck tires as well, for the obscure rock slash, and my Nittos are ~$350 a piece. Local guy just had a nail go through his E-rated tires like butter. He had the certs and it saved him $350.

    Good idea IMO.

If a tire covered by the Certificate for Repair, Refund or Replacement fails due to a non repairable road hazard, has more than (3/32") of tread depth remaining across the tire, and it has been less than 3 years from date of purchase, Discount Tire will give a refund of the full purchase price, together with the applicable sales tax and give you the option to purchase a replacement tire at the refund price, with the payment of any applicable sales tax. There is no prorating, no disqualification for any reason such as run-on damage and no mileage adjustment.

The three year coverage is typically worth it. Especially living near a lot of construction. I’m actually ordering a set of tires from them tomorrow. They also have the cheapest TPMS pricing around.

Fun fact: if you have an AWD and need to replace a tire, their unsaid policy is to replace all four if the wear on the needed tire is extreme aka not new and won’t match the other tires. I asked about this when I had to replace a tire on a Subaru, couldn’t replace just one, had to do all four.

I skipped the certificates one time and ended up having a tire that needed to be replaced. They let me buy the certificates and replaced the tire for free. This was like 6-9 months after I bought the tires.

I bet the shop gets higher marks for selling a certificate regardless of timing. They just code it as "cert sold" and it looks great at corporate. I did read the policy, it is full coverage and you can buy the certs up to 30 days after tire purchase. Appreciate everyone's responses.

Make sure ''off road'' damage is covered and not considered ''abuse'' and the warranty refused. Read the policy well, their WILL be exceptions to coverage in it.

I believe @Sandman614 ‘s tires have been replaced due to offroad damage.

I bought 4 new Bridgestone Desert Duelers with road hazard warranty, sliced a sidewall on a rock. Went to buy a new one to replace & I was covered for free which I thought offroading was a no-no on their policy. Pretty good deal!!

Edit: This was a Firestone dealer.

Yep, offroad damage has been covered for me every time. I don't try to hide it. It's nationwide which is great! I've called around to see if a DT had the tire local to the offroad park but they usually need a couple days to get the tire(because weekend) and then i call my Home store and they will have it for me before mid week.
Then they ask me what kind of a trail I was on, they love hearing stories.

Also have asked if I put plugs in the sidewall if it voided any warranty. "Do what you have to do to get home safely" was the answer given.

    This right here. ☝️☝️☝️

They did the same for my wife on tire that we didn’t even buy there. It came with the vehicle and retailed at the time for about $280. The certificates cost much less than that and they replaced the tire. I’ve never bought another tire anywhere else since then and probably never will.
