I am leaving for almost 3 weeks to go back home. I am wondering if it would be a smart choice to disconnect by battery while I am gone? If so, should I disconnect both positive and negative, or just one or the other? Or just leave it connected?

I vote leave it connected and have a friend come over and start it in 12-15 days and let it run 30 minutes

I would do this but I am fairly new to the area and don't have any close friends that would be willing to do that, or live too far away to make it worth it lol

Well just purchase a jumpbox at the local Rural King or NAPA or O'Reilly's.
Then you for sure won't have a problem.

Can you put it on a trickle charger? You can run the extension cord out of the garage or out under a door then leave the battery in the truck. Otherwise you either need to remove the battery and put it on a trickle charger or just risk the dead battery deal

I do have a jumpbox! This is a brand new battery though and don't want it to completely die causing me to have to buy a new one. I don't know much about batteries so not sure if that is even likely or not.

Would the battery still be prone to dying if it was disconnected?

If it's going to be garaged, I would connect a trickle charger, or remove the negative cable. If vehicle will be stored outside, remove the battery altogether as an added security measure.

If it's a brand new battery I wouldn't worry about it at all.
Your Jumpbox will save your day if it dies.
It would spring back to life after a trip around the block.

Take the battery with you, keep it warm. Really, new battery, 3 weeks, you should be fine, if not jump it.

Yes it will be, you can do things like sit it on a rubber mat ect. But in the end it will die. You need to go to walmart and get a 15$ trickle charger

Just remove the short pin from the fuse box. That will remove all parasitic drains with the exception of an aftermarket alarm system. If you have an aftermarket alarm, definitely disconnect the battery.

3 weeks? New battery? The only way it will even be weak in that time is if you have unknown dark current as a draw.

You'll be fine, worst case you need the jump pack but you won't do any long term damage to the battery if it does drain. Enjoy your vacation
