    Hi All -

Newbie here. I'm looking to buy my first truck and am interested in the Tacoma short bed (I prefer the short bed for a number of reasons). I need the truck to haul two dirt bikes - is that possible with the short bed?

    Thanks,
    Scott

Probably possible, most definitely with the tailgate down.

I go to the MX track at least once a month and I've seen people haul 2 bikes on their short bed Tacos but yea, it depends on size bike. I think the 125cc and lower you can get away with closing the tailgate if you have two of them but anything bigger, you will need to have the tailgate down if you plan to do 2 bikes. You can always get the bed extender if you are worried about keeping the tailgate open.

Yes I do it all the time. Two 500cc bikes fit fine in rear of my Taco. Just keep the tailgate down. Gear bags go either in between the bikes or back seats.

You can haul two full-size bikes with the tailgate down but like mentioned above if you plan to put your gear and other things in the bed also the bed extended would definitely be a good idea

I've seen plenty of people do it,just make sure to tie things down appropriately and move gear around

I haul a Yamaha WR250R and a Honda XR200R pretty regularly with my short bed Tacoma. No extra tie down rack either, but it would be nice. I also have a tri fold ramp that slides nicely between the two machines.

I have had 2 YZ 250's and a Honda cr 80 in the back of my short box tacoma. 250's facing fwd and off to the sides and 80 facing the opposite way. still room for tool box and Jerry cans under the bikes and you can wedge gear in too. Just tie the gear and stuff down.

Get the mobtown tailgate skin if you wanna really beef it up. Find a way to keep the front wheels from turning (chock/wood block) for extra security.

Hauled a 460lb sport bike with the rear wheel on the bed no issue.

If I were hauling bikes regularly, I would get a 3/4" plywood that covers the bed AND the tailgate to get some weight off the tailgate. Not that I'm worried about it breaking off, but I've heard of the metal access plate on the center of the tailgate getting dented. But I only carry mountain bikes....

I haul 2 KTM 300’s every sunday morning about an hour both ways. Tailgate down with a bedmat. I haven’t lost anything out of that back yet.

No both are 300xc’s. I did have the chance to ride the Husky 300 tpi. I liked it.

Finally something I can contribute/comment on! Two dirt bikes is fine, totally enough rooms. Honestly you can get three if you are tricky with it (see picture) this is a long bed, but you will be fine just not a lot of room

You can fit quite a bit back there with the gate down. Even ATVs and more. Like the rest of these guys are saying, dirtbike is easy. 2 is also doable
