    Hello all,

I am having a hard time getting the dirt and grime out of my 2013 Tacoma bed. I would like it clean because i want to take the truck camping and it would be nice to have a "cleaner" bed to sleep in.

i recently purchased this vehicle back in February and i spent a good hour scrubbing with no success. My truck has a Shell topper and im pretty sure its been on there for the past 9 years, i tried removing it myself to get a power washer on the bed, but i could not for the life of me muscle the topper off. Its really stuck on there.

The truck topper is making it difficult to get a power washer in there. Does you guys have any tips or products i can use to scrub the dirt off? i purchased a scrubber drill attachment and it should be coming in the next couple of days. I'm looking for a method to loosen up the dirt for easier removal.

Thank you all, this is my first post as i am a new Tacoma owner. I think this site is great and I've learned so much in the few months Ive been here. Please let me know if i forgot to include anything in the post or if you would like more information

    Cheers,
    JNP

Man, that’s actually clean by my standards :)

Does the stuff come off when you scratch at it with a fingernail? If it was just dirt, it should have come off easily with some warm water and a scrub brush.

If you have access to a pressure washer, that’s what I’d try next. Park it on an incline, stand at the tailgate, and get what you can. Might even presoak it with Dawn, or if it’s really stubborn, degreaser.

If that doesn’t work, lay a cheap tarp down over the dirt and under your bedding, and enjoy your camping trip!

Hi all, i have an update!

I was able to use a drill attachment that has a scrubber and sprayed lightning de greaser on the bed. It was pretty slow going, i did it in sections because it was so hot outside. took a couple hours throughout multiple days. i think it looks so much better, i was never worried about the scratches, just the dirt and grime. I tried using dawn soap, but it foamed up too much and ended up not working as well as the de greaser.

I also was able to get the truck topper off. i lifted it at each corner to release the seal because this topper has most likely been on for the past 9 years. It was quite easy to remove the topper after i broke the seal with a pair of extra hands. After i got most of the dirt out, i used a power washer to get rid of any residue left over from the de greaser.

You might want to use Forever Black Bedliner Gel. It’s actually a permanent dye & worked wonders on the cement stains in my truck bed

To be fair, this was not at all "little" elbow grease. It took power tools and a couple hours throughout multiple days
