    Hi,

I just purchased the Diode Dynamics SS3 with Backlights and i'm looking for a plug & play solution to hook them up. I have a 2021 TRD Off-Road with OEM LED Headlights. What are my options?

    Thanks!

They come with adapters for the main beams, I assume you're asking for plug and play on backlight.

You'd do one or two of these:
    https://fbchs.square.site/product/t...le-lights/8?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=true

    Then one of these:
    https://fbchs.square.site/product/d...-harness/12?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=true

The decision is made on whether you want lower cost (which means the dual output ss3 harness and a run across the grille) or independent feeds (two LED T's and the 12" singles for backlight).

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, I mean plug and play for the backlighting.

I don't mind going with the cheaper option and running a wire across the grille (it's just a single wire, right?)

In that case, would I do:

    One of these ("Driver" option):
    https://fbchs.square.site/product/t...le-lights/8?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=true

And one one of these ("Double Fog Lights" option):
    https://fbchs.square.site/product/d...-harness/12?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=true

If I wire it up this way, when exactly would the backlights be on? Whenever the engine is running? Whenever the DRLs or low beams are on?

    Thanks!

Yes, double fog lights and one LED T, you pick what colors you like, driver or passenger, they are symmetrical of course so that's just cosmetics.

Backlight would be on whenever the stalk is not off (on with DRL or parking lights):

This harness takes the output of the combined DRL and Parking Light signal as provided by my diode module and sends it to the backlight input via 1 position AMP connector.

Hi, I placed the order on 11/21 (Order No. 1029042659) and I was just curious what the lead times are to expect shipping? Thanks!

I'm behind. There is a note on then landing page of the storefront. However, you are the only 11/21 order and I started yours this morning. Since I'm so far behind I am building each item in bulk for that order and subsequent orders of the same type (to streamline / assembly line). Buuuuuut, that's all a long winded way of saying I expect to print your label and ship today.

That's great news! I appreciate your quick response. I saw the note on your website and figured there would be a delay with the Thanksgiving holiday. I didn't mean to sound naggy so apologies if it came off that way. I was just trying to get an idea about how long it would take, since I just received the DD Backlit Fogs today, so I was debating whether to wait on the harness to install or install them anyways and come back to hook up the backlights later. Thank you!

You can do all the backlight stuff once they are installed and aimed so no really good reason to hold off on the install if you so desire. Hardest part is getting everything mounted up tight and aimed.

@daveeasa so when I plug the halogen T-harness and DD backlight plug&play harness I don’t need to use the H11 4-pin DT adapter that came from Diode Dynamics fog lights kit right?

It's either-or, your choice. Their harness is more affordable than mine so it's the better value. I think mine is a bit cleaner overall but the halogen T is not a flagship of the FBC lineup by any means, it's rather "pedestrian" if you will.

@daveeasa would you mind show me the wiring diagram of the T-halogen harness and DD backlight plug&play harness into DD SS3 pods?

I don’t have a wiring diagram to share / show.

Backlight input is female 1 position amp connector.

my stuff combines the DRL and Parking Light wires via 1A diodes to that input via one position amp male.

    Hello @daveeasa,

I have the same set up as @akoaypogi29 with the morimoto xb headlights and diode dynamics ss3 fog lights (with backlight) but also have grille lights. I was previously running the grille lights off an add a fuse using the INJ fuse, but the DRL for the morimoto headlights also require an add a fuse at the same location (or EFI fuse location) - essentially no space to run both. I currently have the morimoto drl connected to the INJ fuse and the grille lights on a low beam fuse.

I tried reading through some of the other threads, but figured it would be easier to ask if you could suggest which of your harnesses to purchase?

My Tacoma came with the OEM halogen headlights that had the L shaped DRL. Looking for a clean solution to run morimoto headlights with DRL, grille lights, and dd ss3 fog lights with backlight. Would greatly appreciate your advice, thanks!

Halogen T can work for grille lights but if you already have add a fuse just run the two off that one feed and you’re fine. Grille lights add negligible load.

Thanks for the quick and honest response! That thought ran through my mind but haven't gotten that deep into research before I stumbled upon the harnesses you have.

    Thanks again!

And, if you wanted to go through the hassle and expense of halogen T for grille lights, I’d probably suggest changing up the morimoto fuse tap to use the in cab poutlet1 or poutlet2 instead. One quick wire through the firewall and you’re safe from fuel injector testing causing your headlights to dance.

I guess, in theory, I could do this with the combined headlight and grille light feed solution as well? I do like the idea of not having to tap into the INJ fuse.

As in feed Morimoto’s from the halogen T output? You might want to check current there. I use 1A diodes and they heat up with a bigger draw. They are fine for grille lights and backlight.
