All 3 are good brands. I like to use the biggest size with the highest CCA that will fit.

The brand that has the best customer service in your area.

Since the company I work for is a Interstate dealer I might be somewhat partial .

In one of my other car forums, we have a significant number of members from Canada and Alaska. The batteries that come up during extreme temperature discussion are brands named Northstar and Odyssey. If you're out in arctic weather, I can see how you want the best battery you can get.

Looks like Northstar and Odyssey are in the $280 to $300 price range. Both batteries have loyal customer followings. I would be up for trying one if I had a local dealer.

Depending on your use, Optima is going to be the "best" but they cost like 2x as much as the others.

Most batteries are pretty much the same anyway, just get the one that fits your budget and your CCA needs. Get one with a 3+ year warranty.

If you go with an AGM or Optima battery make sure you keep it topped off with a trickle charger designed for AGM batteries, at least once a month. I run the X2 Power battery from "Batteries Plus" - two Arizona summers and still going strong. The true test will be what happens in the next couple of years.

I had a bad experience with my Odyssey Extreme - only lasted 8 months before it died, but it's hard to tell if I just got a bad one or if something else caused the problem. I would give Odyssey another try if anyone sold them locally.

I’ve got a sears diehard platinum (rebranded Odyssey) it’s been in my Tacoma when it was running and now my Avalon. 6 almost 7 years later the things still testing good at 960 cca and it’s been through every winter.
My optima before this one my father put in and it lasted 10 years before it failed.

AGM is the way to go. Be it spiral or flat mat

    That’s a solid history.
My red top just died after 2.5 years. It got replaced under warranty. I think It got deep cycled a couple times so might not have been the battery. I haven’t driven my truck in about 3 months and was starting it from time to time and one day-dead. I charged it and a few days later dead again. I’m leaving the new one unconnected until I’m driving the truck again.

what are the warranties like on each battery? Optima red top is 3 years. Blue top is 2 years.

Interstate Batteries, you can find them almost anywhere even in the smallest of towns if you travel and have problems with it and need to get it warrantied.

Did you drill out your aluminum hold down to use the stock j-hook? The one that comes with those aluminum hold downs are kind of flimsy.
