    Any thoughts on this battery?

Diehard Advanced Gold AGM Group 34R

Picked it up yesterday from Sears and it fits with the included spacer. Can't really find exact specs on reserve capacity, but it has higher cca's than the 27F my truck came with. Sear's website says it's a fit for the truck and it's an AGM battery so it's gotta be better than a stock 27F. Just haven't seen too much about this battery on the forum, just a lot about the Optima 34r's.

Trying to decide whether or not to keep it or to return it and switch back to a 27F (they didn't have in stock).

    Thanks

Thanks for the info - do you think the OEM alternator in a second gen Tacoma would have the proper specs to charge that particular AGM? If not - what would I look up to determine this? Thanks!

I have run a Optima 27F for a few years and there were no charging issues along the way. The battery has been great. That being said, I will be upgrading soon. I plan on getting a Northstar or Batteries Plus 31M battery. I spoke with a Northstar rep about charging this battery which is larger than the one you have. He said that with a a daily driver it would be no problem. The problems would show up if you are discharging for long periods (like running a fridge or something for about a week). In my opinion, you will be fine.

All I can say is I charge mine every one/two months due to the starter not cranking like when the battery was new. On a typical drive the voltage goes from 13.9 start to usually 13.2 at the end of destination. Today on the Interstate today it held 13.3-4 volts. With an over sized battery in a cooler climate you may not notice as much.

"ECU controlled and temperature compensating alternators. They reduce the alternator output voltage to approximately 13.5 volts when the temperature under the hood reaches its predetermined level."
