Did the Toyota dealer just ruin my truck with this undercoat?

Just got a used 2018 Toyota Tacoma SR5 (in Maine, so it's a "Northern" truck). They told me they were going to do a "fluid coating" but when I picked it up today, they had definitely done some type of rubberized coating, which I've heard is terrible for the truck.

Is it possible to remove this and have a fluid film instead? Or am I basically screwed and it will stay on until it starts to chip off?

EDITED: I'm assuming it's rubberized? It's a black coating, feels....rubbery? I'm not sure. On the bill from the Toyota dealership it says something like "undercoating - soundproof 5 years"

Dang man. That sucks. I wouldn't be happy, if I was expecting fluid film or wool wax and they used that.

Not much your going to do now, if it were me I would go over it yearly with fluid film. That way when it dries out and cracks fluid film would seep in and protect it better.

Silly sounding question but how do you know it is the rubberized stuff? Lots of coatings, including fluid film, offer black.

The coating should feel waxy or greasy. Rubberize undercoating's are asking for issues down the road if they chip, especially if applied over surface rust. Imo, if you want a long lasting rust inhibitor you don't need to reapply every year...cosmoline rp-342, or crc is the ticket.

Seriously doubt they even prepped the surface. Not a good idea on a truck that has already seen 3 winters in Maine.

I doubt a dealer would use the black Fluid Film. Fluid Film also definitely doesn't look or feel rubbery.

Like I said, silly sounding question but you don't know unless you ask. Can't assume anything.

    It is toyota's own undercoating - https://www.toyota-town.com/platinum-shield-protection/

Yes it's ass, they did you dirty. It's known for trapping moisture underneath and rusting the frame from the inside out. I did quite a bit of research on the different options before doing an undercoating and pretty much all of it said the Toyota one was shit.

There is a TSB or Service Campaign that has them apply some frame coating
