Thanks! There's hardly anything out there on the Switchback right now. I try to add stuff that would've been helpful to me when I was deciding.

It's expensive but I'm glad I got it. Seems very well-made and worth it. I had a soft vinyl tri-fold before and wanted the better structure and security.

I'll do the same thing Shellshock did and add some more photos/links for the Tacoma version install.

Says "surface safe" for rubber, plastic, vinyl, leather, metal and wood so I was less sketched out by using that one.

 

I got $1869 save up in my dresser drawer, only took me 1 year to save this money for this cover lol , after trading in my car I took off everything Rims & sub and car stereo equipment put it all on market place, plus just sold my indoor grow set up i bought 4yrs ago NEVER use it was all brand new sold all this stuff on market place, Now i am just waiting for my 15month 0% card to arrive in the mail with 200$ cash back after i spend 500$ in the first 3 months... i am excited, i got all the money for the cover, but that card i will be buying rims & tires 5 rims & 5 tires.

I just got done installing my switchback and I also just ran into this Same problem, I am pretty piss off , paying 1900$ for a cover with problems NOT FUCKING COOL. What did they send you to fix the problem?

 

You're talking about the "clamp jaw handles" right? That's weird and I don't understand how they consistently have the measurements wrong.

I called them and they sent two new (shorter) threaded metal rods. It's at least extremely easy to swap out and takes inside of five minutes.

They wanted me to email pictures with a tape measure to confirm the size that was supplied and determine what was actually needed.

I still haven't gotten around to the ratchet system yet. However, I DID do the waterproofing with the gasket maker. A bit of a mess and not a very elegant solution, but it works. They should be sending the little foam pads for the bulkhead ends like other tonneau covers do.

Agreed. Yes, it works now.

They sent me two of the threaded metal rods that your plastic handle is currently threaded onto. You simply unscrew the plastic handle all the way off the old rod and then screw it onto the new one, which is identical other than being shorter.

Remove the old ones from the tracks, slip the new ones in, and close it back up with a screwdriver.

 

Can I see a picture with these lock into the striker when you have time?

 

This is what mind did and I had the plastic handle screwed as low as it can go and it did not make any connection with the striker and it would not fit under it to lock, it's way off

I have the long bed and my rails run back far enough for the clamp to hook directly into the rails. (I don't have that silver extender plate.)

You have the opposite problem - your metal rods are too short.

There's apparently a mixup at the factory. They must be sending out short-bed hardware with long-beds and vice versa.

I am looking at the switchback for my 24 pro. But what I don't understand is they have these accessories for the HD but not the switchback. Like I would like to put some cleats on the side so I can but the bars on to put on a fish rod, kayak and or a ski/snowboard holder when I need it and take them off for most of the time. has anyone had luck or found a work around on that? I haven't called diamondback directly yet but everything they say is the cleats are for hd and se model and I hate the v shape set up.

 

The only thing i have done with my switchback is thrown a cargo case under the switchback, Fite perfectly and Now I have a storage in the back on my truck bed Pelican BX135

 

thats pretty sweet I was wondering about the bins they offer for on the sides too but I hate the loss of cargo space but that Pelican case looks pretty nice is it hard to get to with it all the way at the back?

 

The black/yellow Costco bins work really well for that also, if you're looking to save a few bucks. (Link is for 4 bins but you can buy singles in the store.)

 

It's fits good in between the tire walls.But I have bed mat so it does not slide, plus It's also lock up I also order 7ft cable It's ran from the left side of the handle to the righ side of the bed hook .. inside I keep my ARB tire kit, and my Morrflate Compressor and Hold it
