I'm looking into getting a Diamondback cover for my Pro. Opinions on SE or HD? At this time, there is no RTT in my future. Does one really need the added benefits vs. the the cost of a HD? Appreciate your help.

They are both far to expensive for what they provide. IMO a regular tonneau is a better deal and easily has more utility when not in the covered position. You can actually access most of your bed if needed to stack tall objects in the bed vs the DB. How much weight do you plan on putting on the DB? Now look up weight capacity for each of the SE and HD. Will you exceed those? There is your answer. Save some money and go SE if you're dead set on the DB.

The SE is plenty solid for most people.

I mean, do you need to carry an elephant on top of your cover, or do you just want to get the SE?

I went with the Truxedo Sentry CT. So far I'm liking more than my old Bak RollX. I realize neither are diamondback...just throwing out some other hardcover options for you to check out. Good luck!

I went with the HD. Two adults can equal 400 lbs. That and we go camping etc, just nice having the options available. If you are going to drop that $ anyways on diamondback, might as well get the best. Dont regret it.

I have the SE, love it, walk on it with no issues. And for an almost completely open bed the panels pop off quickly which I do for hauling firewood etc. I even pull the whole thing off for hauling a round bale for horses and it only takes a few minutes with four bolts to pull off.

For most people, I would agree SE is more than enough.

However, knowing my spending habits and what I want down the road, I opted for the HD. I've gone down the road of "I should have..." Now I don't have to worry, and my pockets are lighter = +MPGs.

I love my SD, I have had it for a few months and I have had no over cover that I could get up and walk on and not feel like I would break anything. I may have used it for a ladder couple of times to reach things.

It is also secure enough for me to feel comfortable carrying rifles in the back without worry of someone getting to them.

The think the concept is cool, i dont like the way they look or that you have to fully remove it to have use of the bed and the price is ridiculous.

SE owner here. I like the look, functionality, and security of the cover. As others have mentioned, it's also easy to dismount if you need to haul something. The company is very responsive if you have questions or need anything - shoot them an email if you're wondering about anything specific.

Edit to say they also offer 10% off for all active, reservist, veteran, and retired U.S. military personnel.

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
What do you wish you could put on it, that you can't?

OP, I have the SE and find it's fine. I use a RTT, but the tent is on a KB VooDoo bed rack with the tonneau brackets. Using this setup, the weight of the tent isn't on the cover at all. It is supported directly by the quarter panels. I do have bed stiffeners.

If anyone watches Last Line of Defense (Youtube creator) he uses the Diamondback cover and puts all sorts of weight on it without issue. His rack sits right on top of it and the RTT on top of the rack. That channel is the reason I got my Diamondback.

Do you really want to put the ATV up there? I've loaded mine in the beds of trucks before and wasn't a fan even with long ramps. I ended up buying a trailer for it because of all the stuff I carry in addition to how easy to load it was. The trailer was less than the difference in the SE and HD. My ATV probably would be fine as I believe it's about 500lbs but I honestly don't want that much weight that high in the air even if I didn't mind loading it. Honestly we normally have several with us anyway and instead of everyone driving their own truck it's easier to load them all in the trailer.

    Just curious

OP My taco came with the OEM tri-fold and I'm replacing it with the DB SE. I can't imagine carrying 1600lbs on top of my bed. Maybe if they had a middle ground between the SE and the HD I would have gone that route but plenty of people load RTT's on them with no issues. All the research I've done points to it being one of if not the best cover for my needs at least which is water proof, security, versatility in terms of what you can mount on it. Also as several others have said it isn't hard to remove the panels for tall stuff or the whole cover if need be.
