I recently installed a Diamondback Cover and wanted a way to mount my mountain bikes. I searched Tacomaworld and saw several bike rack mounting systems - which were nice, but I wanted to keep it simple AND I did not want to drill holes into my new cover. I decided to use the existing hardware and holes. I took some 1/8" flat steel and cut a shape measuring 5" x 7" (have to consider the width of the fork mount hardware), bent the steel to match the angle of the cleat surface (which is about the same on all 4 sides of the Diamondback). I matched the cleat holes in the cover and drilled holes for the fork mount, painted it, and "bobs your uncle", while, using the existing Diamondback hardware, I now have mt bike fork mounts that can be used at any cleat on the cover.

This is a great idea! I was thinking of adding bike mounts to mine (when it comes). Really like the idea of being able to orient them differently too! Nice!

Thanks. Just got back from trip to NM (from San Antonio, TX). Brackets worked flawlessly and I used both of them.

sorry delay in replying. I simply used tie-downs to hold the rear wheels in place. I will see if i have a pic to share...

Solid idea. I'll be bending some plate to make mounts from the front side cleats for my SE.
