So I was doing a further inspection on all the fluids in my 2002 Tacoma 3.4 today. I noticed that my coolant was orange, fluid looks good, it’s not jello like, which is what dex coolant turns into after a while (or at least what I read). So no I’m planning on completely flushing the system, and replacing it with Toyota red. Should I be worried about any harm this dex coolant has caused to my truck, such as headgaskets, or am I fine as long as I get it completely flushed! Thanks for the help

honestly its probably not DEX. its likely a mix of toyota red and the universal green, just flush it all out and put the toyota PINK in. the Pink is what was in the 02 from the factory (at least my 02) its 100k mile coolant and ive never seen it "go bad"

Honesty I hope your right, I’ll go out and check it again tomorrow in the sunlight rather than shinning a flashlight at it. I’ll update what I find tomorrow

    4 run, 2 don't
If you really wanted to, you can flush it all out with distilled water, and introduce Toyota pink stuff afterward.

red is the old 30k mile coolant. Its safe for brass. the newer cars use the pink which you supposedly shouldnt use with brass, but will last 100k miles. and it never really changes color..

pink is pre mix, red is full strength. 02 tacoma should of been pink factory (theres a sticker on the radiator stating 100k mile coolant) I run pink in all my cars.

even the jeep because it no longer has a brass heatercore.
