Any one run these in winter? I commute about 20 miles each way over a mtn pass that can have snow/ice frequently. On my old truck ive had dedicated winter tires, but for the past 3 years i have just been running my Ko2s. Not as good as dedicated winters but seems to work well. Im debating getting an extra set of rims with winter tires and using the LE2s in the summer untill they wear out, or just getting another set of K02s and selling while they still have low miles. I also spend a lot of time driving on dirt roads and job sites so id like a durable tire as well. Any input on experience with these tires?

They are not good enough for long drives in winter climates. I would suggest a four season tire or a dedicated snow tire. Tacomas aren't amazing winter trucks due to the weight and short wheel base, so you need to upgrade.

You may be ok this winter with new LE2's but as they wear they will show their weakness.

Ko2s are great in the snow, and have served me well for the past 4 years...but its the white knuckle highway rides on hardpack and black ice early in the morning and late at night with headlights in my face that bring the appeal of an all winter tire

Winter tire isn’t going to do any better with black ice. If it’s that bad you might have to consider spending the time to use an autosock when it’s that bad.

I haven’t had any issues on hard pack snow, but then again I have a twin arb installed and just air down air up.

    Best of luck

A lot of people are running wild peaks as well. Haven’t used them myself, but might consider when it’s time to change out the ko2’s

I took off the stock firestones le2's in favor of the goodyear a/t tires, but have reservations doing so. This tacoma went far better than my tundra ever did in the last winter snowstorm here. I haven't any doubt those firestones would of been fine.

Nothing beats the performance of a dedicated snow tires. I'd find a set of OEM take off wheels and buy snow tires vs. trying to find an all around tire

Ran the LE2s thru 2 Eastern Mass winters, they did OK. Replaced them with Firestone Destination AT2s and they are awesome.

The Firestone LE2s are actually a good all season tire. I've had them on other vehicles and have been happy with their winter performance.

Edit to add: If I was in "snow country" I would have a dedicated set of snow tires on steelies for the winter.

This is the only correct answer. Especially if OP is already worried enough to start a thread about it.

How much is your peace of mind worth to you? Winters may not save you completely but at least you know you made the correct choice.
Dedicated winters + Adapting driving habits = the best possible result.

I had firestone destination a/t tires on my tundra driving in ma. winters, but thought these goodyear adventure w/kevlar were better. Nothing compared to the general a/t2 grabbers though. Those were truly awesome.

Many winter tires feature Silica in the rubber compound, and will do better on black ice. Ice performance has a lot to do with the softness rubber compound as well.

I loved my Grabber AT2's I never had to put the truck in 4x4. CO and WY winters
I went Cooper AT34's and they suck (okay they are quieter)

    Absolutely incorrect.

Many different automotive and truck magazines have done tests with many different type of tires (AT, MT, 3peak, winter) on snow and ice and the winter tires win.
There have been many retail tire sellers, like a Tire Rack, who have done tests between studded winter tres vs non-studded winter tires on ice and the non studded tires have won.

Get the snow tires, the only real cost is the rims.
