Hey guys…Has anyone ever installed the deplorable electric running boards on there taco?
I’ve seen them on other trucks, but never on a Tacoma. I’ve looked into them,AMP brand seems to be the best but they’re $1500. My question is do you have or know anyone that has installed them? Also, is there a comfortable running board that deploy when the doors open that is just super reliable and cheaper? They look very convenient tucked in on anything for wheeling, but that’s a lot of money has to be better options out there. I appreciate any feedback or recommendations.:mudding:Thanks~

DM the owner of the truck in the first post ob this page" https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/where-have-you-off-roaded-today-3rd-gen.400627/page-644

He seems satisfied, but probably has the need for the hiding-steps.

I have thr AMP powersteps on my 2nd Gen. One of the best mods I did considering my wife is vertically challenged and I have 2 small kids.

These steps are definitely not meant to be sliders. The steps are hollow aluminum and can support body weight but not the partial weight of your truck.

I know AMP was purchased in the last few years by Lund or some other company. There's not many manufacturers out there but I would look at the cheapest option. All that is in the kit is 2 boards, 2x motor, 4x hinges, mounting hardware and the electronic brain controller. The mechnical stuff should all be similar.

I appreciate my man I was looking at amp and yes, my wife had knee surgery and I need something that’s lower so she can step in. I think they can be lowered to 4 to 6 inches. That would be great for Her but $1500 show me the money Jerry! Ha..
If you know anyone that has something similar just as reliable, If you could get back with me, I know you get what you pay for.

One question on the boards I’ve been looking into them, and there are many to choose from. How do you guys experience is amp, rhino or any other keyboards, would you recommend? I’ve got a Tacoma but the tundra has the third bar in the middle. It looks like the Tacoma has two on each side. If you’re going to invest that much I’d like dual motors on both sides and something dependable any recommendations on what brand through threads or experience on these boards. Thanks for the help. We always wanna get the best for our trucks. At the right cost.
