In the middle of doing a tune up on my 1997 2.7l. I ordered some denso plug wires from rockauto but they are all an inch and half to two inches too long so there is some unsighly swooping bends at the two coils. I am thinking the rockauto database assumed I had a distributor. I think my '97 was manufactured later in the year when they moved to the two coils in the distributor location (not coil on plug yet). I changed out my plugs but left the cleaner looking but old intermotor wires on. Not sure if running these slightly longer denso wires will affect anything negatively other than looking messier? Or should i return them and get some shorter ones, maybe just oem toyota ones so i know they are the correct length, even though they are double the price of the denso's i bought. Thanks for any nudging

Denso products made for a manufacturer like Toyota are designed for a specific situation.

The products they sell under their name are designed to work with multiple engines, so in some cases you'll have a product like O2/AF sensors or spark plug wires that are a bit longer than what came on the vehicle. Again, those Denso-branded sets were designed to work on multiple engines. In the former case, Toyota paid for a specific size/length; in the latter, Denso is looking to cut their mfg. costs.
