    Hi folks,

I've got a 2016 DCLB with 110k miles on it. Recently, I've noticed when I accelerate from either slow or a dead stop, it will occasionally delay shifting and almost "catch" or jolt. Doesn't always happen but happens more than it should.

Anyone had this happen/found a solution?

    Thanks

If you haven’t flushed the transmission fluid yet, you should consider it.

Just for clarification, are you saying that you're giving throttle input and its revving before jolting "into gear" and moving? Or you're in 1st gear, accelerating normally, and it jolts into 2nd gear? Or neither?

Also, stock tune or aftermarket? Or don't know?

I'm in 1st gear accelerating into 2nd gear. For example, if I am pulling out of a stop sign, I will accelerate from a dead stop fine and then jolt into gear two as I speed up...

Stock tune but do have a ShiftSense Pro transmission-shift controller https://www.dz-custom-innovations.com/
it was on it when i bought it a year ago and haven't had any issues with it...

when i first start driving my truck the shift from 2nd to 3rd gear is always pretty rough. makes a clanking noise.

I know 3rd gens are traditionally poor shifters but this seems like it's worse than usual...

And for more clarification, do you use it? Meaning, do you drive in "D" or do you engage this device by using "S" mode on the gear shift select? I would say this is the very first place to look before throwing any money at the truck. Unplug it from the OBDII completely, and see if your issue reoccurs.

i figured the ATF is just cold so I try to be gentle until it warms up but it's a bit concerning TBH

So technically, the shift controller isn't being engaged then. I'd still unplug it just to be sure though. Those things are known to make vehicles act crazy; from what I understand, they're not actually remapping shift points in the ecu, its just faking RPM/throttle input/etc to make the truck think its at a certain point for faster shifts/response; I could be completely wrong - thats just how I've understood them to work, or at least other brands; I assume they're all the same.

If its not that, the next place to look is ATF level. If that checks out, possibly just 3rd gen stock tune gremlins, but I'd want to make sure everything is functioning correctly mechanically before throwing different tunes at it.

Have them check ecu ID . Could be the original b01. You want to be on 04B04 for 2016. I believe 2016 had TCU update as well on early 2016.
And most likely PC is causing the jolt

it takes an extremely long time for the ECU to "learn" everything. Hell, every time I change octane it starts all over again. kind of crazy how long it takes to go into closed loop.
