Custom Sock bed decal for Michele
    Been doing this for awhile and thought I would share for those who like deer meat.
    needed items......
    1/4 cup soy sauce
    1/4 cup worcesteshire sauce
    4 heaping tablespoons brown sugar
    4 heaping tablespoons BBQ sauce
    1 tablespoon salt
    3 tablespoons liquid smoke
    1 heaping tablespoon seasoned salt
    1 heaping tablespoon garlic powder
    3 heaping tablespoons seasoned pepper (can use crushed pepper also if you like hot......:D)

    Mix everything in a large bowl, add your deer cuts and mix up until all covered.
    Place in refridgerator over night to let marinade.

    When ready......Hook up dehydrator, take meat out of bowl and place in dehydrator, no need to wipe off marinade. Let it do its thing until the way you like it.
    I like it moist and not so dried out.
    Beats $3 to $6 a bag at the store.............:)

    I've been using Cabela's dry rub hicory marinade lately. It taste relatively good. Yours sounds yumming also. Are those ingredients for a pound?

    I wish I had some venison left. I made all of mine into sausage and chicken fried backstrap.

    Can you make pig jerky? Just a thought.

    I do believe so, in most cases I triple the goodies and add a bunch of meat. Never really weighed it out.

    i have used the oven a few times before i got a dehydrator. I usually just let the meat hang from the racks in the oven with toothpicks. Set your oven on about 160-180 and let it slow cook that way. I can't remember if i left the door cracked or not though. i don't think i did. anyways if you cook it that slow it will take about 4-6 hrs.

    Mmmmmmm Deer Jerkey. I make some every christmas...this year I made about 60 lbs worth and cooked it in a smoker. MY next door neighbor has a smoker that is made out of a fridge (who came up with that I do not know). Quite the cool contraption. I am not quite as original though as I buy my seasoning pre package from Butchers and Packers in Edmonton. This year I mixed it up with three different flavours: honey garlic, peppered and cajun!

    You guys are so lucky! It's next to impossible to get venison out here. Gotta fly to Molokai, pack the meat and fly it back, and hope the guys at the airport don't raid it (it happens).

    Around 30 years ago or so, my mom's neighbor made deer jerky, haven't had it since. Had venison steak since then, but still... :(

    Though I've had alligator jerky. :)
