My neighbor's got one on his 6' Tundra bed. It looks sweet and I like how you can stack stuff including motos on top. His has a taller-than-cab height camper and he sleeps/camps in it all the time.

$1200 buys lots of plywood, though, and I'll likely make my own.

Pretty pricey, if you have the time just build your own its not difficult.

But even before getting to that point, really consider the shallowing up of your truck bed and if thats something you are ok with. And if you do move forward with truck drawers, make them/buy ones that are easily removable for the times you need your bed.

I did the pask makes one. It was pretty easy, and I've never built anything like it before. 3/4" was a little overkill, and the skate bearing setup for drawer slides eats up a lot of space. If i had to do it again i'd probably go 5/8ths, and do some sort of bottom slider setup to maximize drawer width

Downside to plywood would be the waterproofing ability of the material though, no? Unless it's underneath a shell or whatever, but if the top of the drawer system is open to the elements, I can see why the decked material is preferred. But again, not sure if the cost justifies it.

There are tons of ways to build one yourself. Ours are designed to withstand the elements as well as a 2000lb payload. DECKED was founded on the concept of improving the plywood DIY version of a truck bed platform/drawers. It all depends on what you are looking for.

It’s a ton of wasted space. If they had they’re exact system but actually space efficient I’d consider it. But as is, there’s no way I’d give up precious square footage in an already tiny bed.

This. Wanted one for a while. Saw one in person, changed my mind in under a minute. I’ll be building my own.

it’s a great system for an average person. I just like to try an maximize my space in an already small bed. Plus, not full length drawers, empty space on all sides and IIRC the drawers weren’t squared, they’re angled at the bottom so you lose some ability for storage there. It’s got its place in the market. Not to take away from Decked, it’s just not applicable for a lot of us who use our beds all the time.

Unique selling point would be load bearing capacity if you for some reason want to put dirt bikes or something heavy on top of it. But higher loading and center of gravity just for two tiny drawers that I could just put all the stuff that goes in them on the floor around the bikes seems like a rare person who’d need it.

The center piece im assuming makes it structurally strong, but the drawer walls should be closer to vertical, the space down the center is gone, there’s cubbies in the back that look less than packing efficient and no cubbies in the front from what I can see in the product page..

    Weather sealed I assume.

So a nice product that could be designed much more efficiently and only for a small niche of people who need a weather sealed, load bearing, drawer system.

A weather sealed, load bearing system is an awesome concept. But how many people actually “need” that and at the financial and space inefficient costs? Not sure.

I don’t see a contractor hauling dirt or lumber on top of it. I could see the need to keep tools dry but want to haul but this isn’t the right fix for that.. the whole “overland” crowd may want to keep gear dry, but that’s a lot of cost and lost space to do so. Could just get a topper maybe. Idk.

Seems cool for about twelve people and for the types who like to drop money like it’s cool in anything and everything that fills the emptiness in their souls with the endorphins of buying crap for their truck and feeling like a Spec Ops Overlander dude or whatever ha.

What needs to be improved is the amount of space wasted with the Decked system. I would add maybe a version that utilizes more of the limited space in say a short bed Tacoma that the owner may have no need to have a 2000lb capacity on top of it. Maybe a 500lb limit on top would be reasonable. Maybe just enough for two people to sleep on top of plus there bedding for the long beds.

I am thinking of buying this system... BUT i hate how tall the drawers are. I wish they were about 30% shorter. I know you lose the flatness on top but i just dont need that. any other solutions?

check out truck vault. They’re more heavy duty, but offer 3 different drawer heights (6 1/8 up to 10” IIRC) and even different drawer setups. They’re the priciest, but incredibly rugged.

I have one and really like it.

I don't have the time or inclination to build a system myself, but I also found a Decked system used for a significant discount.

Fair suggestions. Not sure how the payload capacity affects the perceived loss of space. The 2000lb payload rating comes from the 1" steel tubing that is molded into the deck of the system. Agreed that a Tacoma DECKED system probably doesn't need to have a 2000lb capacity, but it doesn't affect the efficiency of the bed usage.

Is your system 100% waterproof. My pic is old and I sold my cap. My only worry would be water getting in to the drawers.

To be fair my view on space is only from pictures. The fact that the drawers are angled in on the vertical sides, the visible space between drawers and perhaps even from the rollers/below drawers.

if the drawers were shorter there would just be more wasted space though. They can't really lower the platform because of the wheel well.

I think if it was lighter duty, and used the space better it could be a good product. Less plastic, lower load rating, and a lower price. There is no need for it to be as bulky as it is but I assume it is that way to justify the price tag.
