    Good Afternoon TacoLovers nationwide!

I have a cement 2017 TRD Pro. I am looking at the decked system for storage and added functionality.

Does anyone have the system or experience with it? What are your thoughts?

I am hoping to put a tent system on TOP of it (possible with risers) for "over landing" (if that's officially what its called?)

Here is a link to the system:

I think it depends on what you plan to do and how you want to organize your gear. 10 years ago I built my own deck/drawer system out of plywood for my Gen 2 ‘08. When I bought my Gen 3 ‘18 I transfered the same deck/drawers over to the new truck. I also have a canopy, so making sure the deck/drawers are weather proof is not my concern.

If you’re not looking to put a canopy or tonneau cover on, I would want something weather proof and lockable.

For me, it was either a tool box to hold all my stuff, but tool boxes and canopies mean I’m crawling into the back all the time to get something and it eats up bed space. A deck system and drawers makes it much easier to access my gear and I still preserve the length of the bed for sleeping and other gear (DCLB). My drawers are only 5” deep, and that was intentional to preserve as much headspace when sleeping in the back or room for stuff.

I don’t have a decked system in my Tacoma, but we uae them in our F-150 work trucks. Currently have two with over 125000 miles on them, no issues. As stated moon dust will find its way in, but that’s it, no water, no breakages. I am saving my pennies to buy one for my Tacoma, much better than a tool box.

I came very close to buying the Decked system, but chose the Diamondback bedcover (with a bin) instead for a couple reasons: 1) the Decked system takes away my little storage cubby holes and the outlet in my bed. Not a deal-breaker, but I paid for them, might as well use them, 2) despite being perfect for organizing all my camping gear, with the Decked system I'd still have to strap my cooler up top, exposed to the elements and to thieves, and 3) ditto for any suitcases if I'm carrying any passengers, a high probability since I have the double-cab.

Maybe one day I'll get a camper shell, and if that happens I'll sell the DB and go with a Decked system and topper, but for now the bedcover just checked more boxes.

    Starting over.......
659ED7F3-11F7-491C-8858-E6A7092DDC63.jpg I installed my decked system about 2 months ago and love it. I was buying a used canopy and noticed they had a used decked sys as well so I got a good deal.

    - 1000 mile trip with family to east coast, put all the things you need to access in the drawers then pack the truck. No climbing or rummaging for gear, so simple.

    - fishing trip with son. Clothes in one drawer, food and cooler bags in other drawer. Drive north, sleep on deck under canopy, grab clothes and food from drawers as required.

    - canoe trip, paddles and PDFs fit in drawers no problem

    - Sat AM groceries, put them in the drawers

Would not think twice about buying it again

I made a bracket to relocate the electrical plug and fine the two cubbies in the deck to be better than the two bed cubbies.

Can we get a zoom-in on your bracket work!?

The last post about loosing that was a concern, and I immediately went to extensions/custom plates etc etc to retain the outlet.

They look great. For those that have a Decked, how much weight do you estimate you're adding, between the Decked box, and all your gear in it?

I'm somewhat of a weight weenie with my truck. I'm afraid that by the time I filled the thing up, I'd notice the extra weight.

So 2 years later I was again contemplating getting the decked system. I did my diligence and googled reviews and what people thought again..... I totally forgot i posted this and ended up clicking it in google! Crazy!

But I got it installed today! Pretty stoked!

The slides are super smooth, the top is very very sturdy. Just got it, so not a long time, but the quality is evident. The gentlemen at Sams 4x4 in Tulsa were skeptical at first, but then afterwords they loved it. Even featured on Facebook.
