    Anyone know which character(s) in the VIN identifies where the truck was assembled? And what the characters are for both Baja and San Antonio?

    ...thanks.

    ...if true, I believe a VIN beginning with "5" would be San Antonio.

    Truck will be an access cab, TRDOR 4x4, Inferno/black with premium and tech packages. Dealer notified me today that it is 'on the ground' (I believe this to indicate that it is off the train). They just need to move it from Oregon to Seattle.

    Tacoma's are the easiest to decipher, outside tundra's.

    1st digit : country code
    3=mexico
    5=usa

    11th digit : plant code
    M=baja California, mexico (Tijuana actually)
    X=san Antonio, texas

    Seems to me that every one I've seen at dealers here in San Diego are from TJ. There were a TON of San Antonio 2015s here so it can't just be a regional thing. Maybe it's still early and the USA ones haven't really filtered here yet since we're so close to TJ. Just curious. Will be ordering a US one.

    How much did you pay? I went into Michaels and they wanted full MSRP on mine, laughed at them and walked out the door. That dealership just sucks. Renton and Kirkland were much more accommodating

    Ordered mine through Doxon in Auburn. They're doing the Costco program. It's $500 above invoice. Really only works out to about $1500 below MSRP but it's something. Renton said they're not participating in Costco since its "in demand". Mine has a 3 at the start of the vin, so I guess it's from Mexico. I don't think there will be any difference in quality as they all pass U.S inspections.

    My 16 Tacoma I just picked up the other day starts with 5 and was purchased in Kentucky. I would bet most west coast dealers receive 3's and east coast dealers receive 5's simply based on cost savings.

    I live in Snohomish county and the dealers in Everett, Edmonds, Lake City and Burlington will not be doing the Costco or TrueCar programs for the Tacoma for 'several months' due to demand. According to them, they are selling every double cab and TRD before it gets off the truck, so they see no need to go for the discount programs. I was interested to see that there were no double cabs/TRD on the lots that were not already sold. I bought mine from the Everett dealer, and was apparently doing well to get it $ 400 under MSRP.

    it also says on the Monroney sticker inside the window. Much easier to find there than in the VIN
