Been looking at some things to put on the truck, nothing too cheesy like flames or tribal stuff...
Just something simple, or maybe even something like that "splatter" decal on the Raptor bedsides.
Kicking around the idea of putting racing stripes down the hood, roof, and tailgate.
    Idk, just thinking about it.
Maybe something on the rocker panels.
Anyone do this to their 1st gen?
I'm only finding pictures on 2nd and 3rd gens.
    Thanks

I mean, there's vendors here that do decals and stuff too. As well as the common ones like bedside stickers. Even with different effects if you want it to be a little custom and have a unique "special edition". I got some from @ruggedT and they're awesome. Can customize what you want. Can even do custom fonts.
There's also this site I found. Which has some pretty cool decals. With many color options including metalized And chrome, even reflective! You can even add special effects like shadowing. I ordered a custom sized chrome trd windshield decal to replace my old and cracked out one I bought from somewhere else.

I applied herculiner on my rocker panels down both sides of the truck. I drive a lot of gravel and end up chipping a lot of paint there anyways. Functional and ended up looking pretty good IMO.

Looks good, just not crazy about the idea of putting bedliner on my Tacoma, it just got repainted.
Gonna try to stay more along the line of stickers, I don't want to spray anything on it with the new pretty paint.
But I do want to put some simple decals on it, just to break up all that "lunar mist", lol

I get it...it was weird taking sandpaper to the paint, but I've done this on other trucks and it lasts great. I use herculiner and apply it with a sponge. Gives the most even application of the rubber.

Lots of guys on here have done the bedliner on the rocker panels, it looks cool, but with my truck just getting repainted, I wanna stay away from that route.
I'm really interested in this decal kit that was on the 87-88 Tacoma pick-ups, I think it looks pretty sweet.87-88 4X4 SR5 RC-LB p (1).jpg

Yea, that retro would look nice on a light color but I don't care much for light stripes on a dark vehicle.

Always liked the look of the orange on tan but it may be too '80s to pull off on a Tacoma.

My Tacoma is silver (lunar mist), I emailed the guy at JDC to see if he could make them in solid black.
The other colors look decent too, but I just don't wanna get too crazy with them

Suspension, 33s, some armor... Rust, Gray wire and 2Low, and more. T4r is stock.
I've been thinking of doing a grayscale version of stripes like these to get a retro look. Almost the ones you picked... If I do it will be vinyl or PlastiDip so I can just peal them off.

Yeah, and if the paint color winds up being different underneath it after some time, I think I'd be ok with it. Lol

I had that same truck in a dark blue. Loved my '83 4x4. Had a full roll cage, sunroof, custom made bumpers and a custom double tube roll bar on it.

    prob. a tan/brown/gold.

edit: more like sand/tan/brown. Gold can get too gaudy. Copper shades could work. Mine's the Imp. Gr. also. If I repainted stock I'm thinking about a stripe.

Just something to make it seem different after all these years of seeing it.

Yep that's it right there. I think the one you show here is the way to go. My fave decals on the Yotas and a nice tribute to it's roots. A Yota lover or purist will definitely be able to appreciate your taste on those decals.
