    Hi everyone,
For a behind the grill light bar looking at 32" options to make it clean and hidden in the lower grill.
Between diode dynamics and baja designs which do you all prefer?
I'd go with white for the middle and amber for the sides or all amber.

Pros and cons of each company ect?
    Thank everyone

Removed some stuff, added some stuff.
Baja Designs is tried and true as well. I love the LP series especially the pros (not light bars more of a light pod) but their light bars are pretty nice too. Gonna spend a decent buck on either so.

I don't mind saving up to spend money for a quality product. I have freinds that keep telling me to go with Amazon night I forgot the rest of the brand but to me they are too cheap and I'm always hearing about how they have to replace them every few years.
I'm not interested in having to do that.
I'd rather plan and spend my hard earned money on stuff that lasts and does what it's supposed to do.

Thank you both I will do more research and I'll also reach out to memario for any questions with DD.

Really can't go wrong with either for that purpose.
If you were looking at lights for on-road driving (like fogs) I would recommend DD. But you will only be using these off-road, right? RIGHT? :D

Definitely go with @memario1214 !! Knows his stuff and has great deals on lights!

I went with the bigger onx6+ in the lower grille with the caliraised brackets. Solid mount and even better lightbar. ECADBA29-B912-430D-97E3-41B93F24DFD1.jpg

I personally use Baja Designs. There are a lot of reviews on both brands on YouTube. Most reviews however don't show performance in real world scenarios. One thing I found is the Baja Designs tend to have a much better even spread of light. The DD's seem to have more of a hot spot and can also have a halo effect, the light is not as evenly spread out as BD. Until I have a new bumper I currently have only two BD Squadron Pro's with amber wide-cornering lens and just those two out perform stock low beams. The stock low beams do project slightly farther but do not cover side to side anywhere near as well as the Squadron Pros with the wide cornering lens. I am sure the driving combo will out perform the stock low beams and most likely the stock high beams as well. Go to Baja Designs web site and read about the Lighting Zones as well as Effective Lighting Score in the Science of Lighting drop down found at the top of the home page. Don't hesitate to call BD with any other questions. They are always happy to answer any questions.

I would personally recommend going with memario as others have said. Great customer service, fast shipping, and has the products in stock. I have the DD lower grill light bar in Amber Driving and like it, although I sort of wish I went with white.

Totally missed this thread! Appreciate everyone giving me the shout though!

I can (and have) go on and on about which brand is better, which product is better, etc, etc. However, I'm a little time pressed today so I'll give you the Cliffs Notes version. These points are in regard to LIGHT BARS ONLY and are not representative of the other products in their respective lineup(s):
    • For the money I still hold that Diode Dynamics light bars are the best "value" on the market. They leverage DD's TIR optics technology (albeit not as well as on their pods) to allow for very good down-range performance for a bar that doesn't technically produce monster numbers. It also comes in a smaller form factor which is nice for squeezing a bar into places. We have had a few bars have a panel or two go out on customers over the years, but DD has always been quick to warranty them without question.

    • From a strictly performance standpoint the BDs are excellent and my favorites. While they don't control the light quite as well as a DD bar for their general use-case (offroad) no one really cares about control and just wants everything, all the time. I am personally a big fan of the 5000k output color temperature. Their patterns (in general) won't reach quite as far as something like a DD bar, but if you're trying to accomplish a jack-of-all-trades type of job duty they're really good. If you have the room and the budget for an OnX6... Strap a 30"er of these to the truck somewhere and all of the rest of your lighting will be for vanity because you really don't NEED more than that. Should you always have more? Of course . One thing I will say about the BD light bars is that I don't like them mounted on a roof, regardless of pattern. Even in their spot pattern, which is the best there, there is still a decent amount of hood splash of light due to the reflector design. This does not lend itself well to long-distance night vision.
Hopefully that helps. Please feel free to shoot me a PM here or give me a ring at 406-936-0206 whenever and I can get a little more lost in the weeds if you have more questions.

As long as you're willing to pull the bar out again we can get you new lenses for a pretty good deal. You'd be OTD with all new lenses for the bar for less than $50.

Yeah I would love to but it was a PITA putting it in the first time and I’d rather leave it there.

    Hey @01 dhrracer

Thanks for pointing this out, While Diode makes good products there is a trend in their optics that is present. The Light spread that we are able to achieve is very even and has very minimal hotspots allowing fewer lights to perform greater output. This is very present when compared to our competitors such as Diode Dynamics.

While the SS3 Pro Spot may have a higher lumen count of 5796 lumens it has a tight focused beam due to its TIR optics. As a result, it creates a multi-colored halo on the outside of the beam pattern that could be distracting and can cause fatigue while driving at night for long periods of time.

The Squadron Pro Spot has 4095 lumens while emitting light using traditional reflectors and spot lens resulting in a better transitional light and even blend distribution. Better blend = less fatigue and a more enjoyable night drive"

Understanding that we are talking about light bars the topics transfer over to the large-scale lights.

Brandon/BD your welcome. All too often many people talk about brightness. I don't look at things that way at all. I am much more concerned/interested in how well the terrain is illuminated and how well my eyes can deal with what ever it is I am trying to see. I have spent a lot of time driving in blowing snow at night. driving in blowing snow at night - Bing images We all should be very familiar with the challenges that we subject our eyes to these days with the number of hrs. looking at computer screens. That intense hot spot and the halo would drive my eyes nuts. As one can see that within that hot spot it may be bright but you actually don't even see the ground. No detail of the ground is visible.

Wow that's a big difference and the halo effect.woild for me be really annoying!
What were the lights used for the comparison?

I mainly am looking for lighting to help see better in bad weather and in the insane dark twisty backroads of my town.
I don't intend to put anything on the roof mainly looking into ditch lights and light bars behind the grill.
Thanks again to everyone it's all incredibly helpful!

    Hey @Spielightdude,
The lights shown in the comparison are the Baja Designs Squadron Pro Spots and the Diode Dynamics SSC3 Pro Spot. Depending on the application you are using these lights for we sell different lens patterns to achieve a different light output for each of our products. All of our lights also come with a fully interchangeable lens allowing you to switch your setup down the line utilizing our Uservice. Another key takeaway is that all of our products offer a lifetime warranty so if anything happens down the road with your lights we will take care of them for you. If you want to check out some options for light bars or Pod lights visit the links below.

Another option: Go with pods behind the grill on a mount like the BAMF rack.

I have DD SSc3 Pro in 4k with driving optics connected with a three way switch so I can run them as auxiliary high beams or switch them on anytime off road.
