i own a 2012 tacoma access cab and the oil change is ready
Do you guys recommend the dealership? Its around $60 for full synthetic and a multipoint inspection
Or should i go somewhere else where its around $40-50
I know toyota oil is the best for a long lasting truck and would like to know your guys opinion
My only complain would be that the dealership takes almost 2 hours

Heres a chance to do it yourself. Know your truck. Do a better job than the dealer or any one else can do. Have a beer afterwards and pat yourself on the back with complete satisfaction.

since when is toyota oil the best for a long lasting truck? Look for a rebate (i think pensoil has one now). buy a toyota filter (around 5-8 dollars from Amazon) and do it yourself for free. depending on when you buy your oil, you can do it for around 20 bucks yourself.

for example, got my filters for around 5 bucks. with the rebates you can get, i got 4, 5 qt bottles of pennsoil last year for around 12 bucks for each 5qt bottle after rebate. it cost me around 19ish dollars and 30 mins to do my own oil change

Do it yourself, man. You can get the oem oil filter for $4, and Mobil synthetic oil for around $12 after rebate most of the year.

Add in a fumoto valve and you can do it without any tools and very little mess. Takes about 20 minutes at home.

A gen 2 oil change is ridiculously easy and only takes a handful of tools. Spend the money on the few tools you need, a Toyota oil filter and any good, correct weight oil. Find the videos here on how to do it and take satisfaction in doing it yourself.

Just make sure you correctly identify the oil drain plug and don’t drain your tranny fluid. If the oil that comes out is red, hop back on the forum and you’ll get the help you need.

I do my own oil changes, and I'm 16! It only takes me about an hour and is pretty simple to do. If I can do it, I'm pretty sure you can too!

Some folks can't or wont do the oil change themselves - disability, apartment residents, afraid to drain the ATF, etc...

I do my oil changes also, but I can't on my work truck - I have to take it to a shop, but at least I get to pick it. Around my area I like to go to Valvoline or Oil Changers because I drive over their pit area and I get to stay in my truck the whole time and not worry about them getting the seats dirty for things going missing.

My first work truck was a 2006 Ford F150. I put 140K miles on it and the majority of the oil changes were done by these folks and I never had any issues with their service. They also did a coolant flush and they would have done an ATF flush except I got it done at Firestone when they did the 100K service with new plugs. I now drive a Chevy Impala and take it to them also.

Ebay... a case of 10 Toyota OEM oil filters is $50. Walmart, 5 quarts Pennz Platinum, $30. 15 minutes of your time... Cost of knowing your oil change was done correctly and knowing your engine is safe... PRICELESS! Do it yourself.

Another vote here to do it yourself.

Add a Fumoto valve while you're at it to make future oil changes a breeze.

You can buy the best oil and filter and still save money doing it yourself.

    Why not do it yourself?

I would never have a dealership change my oil. They would probably lie about doing it and charge me.

buy a case of Toyota filters off Amazon (~$40 for 10 filters) & Mobil 1 at Walmart or wherever, and do it yourself.

If you can do it..I buy a case of 10 OEM filters and stock up on Mobil 1 at Costco when it’s on sale. An oil change cost me about $25 and literally takes 6-7 mins. Also gives you a chance to crawl underneath and check other things. The first time you do it, your going to make a mess. From there you’ll learn what you did wrong and how to correct it.
