I'm in settling up payment for new truck and I see a line item for nitrogen filled tires for $300. I told them that I don't want/need that, and they told me that it's already been done and that they do it to all their vehicles to guarantee that there are not TPMS issues during changing seasons, so I basically have no choice in the matter.

Sounds like a load of horseshit to me. What are y'alls thoughts?

This is a certified pre owned 2022 that I plan to immediately put new wheels and tires on (and new TPMS sensors).

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
I can tell you they likely did not nitrogen fill the tires. Just put green caps on. Also, nitrogen doesn’t do shit.

Tell them the air you breathe is mostly nitrogen therefore you’re not paying any extra.

The price is included in the service and advertised as FREE. Like the saying, there no such thing as a free lunch, someone will be paying for it.

True... that's BS. I can go to my local air gas supply and buy a 20lb nitrogen bottle and filled 30 tires for that price, lol.

100% Nitrogen does nothing to change the cold weather pressure drop. Our atmosphere is already 78% nitrogen. Service advisors are bullshit artists. And yes $300 is a complete price gouge. I wouldnt pay for it

I mean, what happens if you don’t pay it. Worst case they take their “nitrogen” back, and you fill it with compressed air.

I paid $20 for Costco to deflate and fill my factory tires with nitrogen and I still feel like I overpaid. Course it didn't help that I took it out on trails and released all that nitrogen down to 19 psi and filled it back up with an air compressor lol.

That's a complete ripoff. I'd throw a fit. Make it clear that the service department will never touch the truck if they live on a planet where $300 nitrogen fill-ups are acceptable.

$300 is a joke. Someone is laughing but not you. I charge when I do a nitrogen service on an airplane, typically inflating a strut, and it's only $40. Looks like I need to raise my prices.
