Lots of different opinions . To be expected. Again, I had a very clear discussion with the service dept prior to pulling the trigger. It was a clear error on their part where the tech refused to install an aftermarket part and had no prior experience doing it. I was lied to right from the get go , they, "had done many" . Just plain and simply was bull shitted. My time like yours is valuable.Lesson learned. Had a few beers. Not he end of the world.

You are right, he got a yes from a service advisor! Even though OP explained it correctly, I bet the service advisor probably approved it, not knowing a ECGS bearing from a EGR valve to a cabin air filter. Once the mechanic looked at the order, he probably realized what they were talking about.

Lots to be said here but what I find alarming is no one has mentioned watching the 2 videos provided on the bushing web page, including the op. If you watch the video, the tech and I believe the designer of the bushing tells you there is a special tool required to remove the bearing. I retired from Autozone, and there is no rental tool to remove that bearing in the car. (edit 1) This is a difficult install and I know Senior Master ASE guys that would walk on the this job. I'm also a Kia and Ford service tech with back shop experience. In my opinion, there is no way to look up "book" time to do the job, either on Mitchel, or Alldata to price the job because it's a "custom" piece. You could estimate and add some fail time to it, but unless you've done the work, you have no idea what time it will take, not to mention the liability. I ain't nobody here. I'm just a old guy who's done some stuff. I always recommend you research the job, the shop, the tech and determine the best way to go. You took a eye operation to a ankle and leg doctor. Just sayin.

Edit 1. There is a inside pilot bearing tool with a slide hammer available, but it won't go that large a diameter. That tool was hand made buy the guy that did the first install.

There are plenty of bearing pullers that exist in sizes appropriate for the stock needle bearing. That said, most will cost more than the $45 for the tool ECGS sells for this.

For example, the Toyota SST (09612-30012) is $130 USD:

There are of course other blind bearing pullers out there that would easily take care of it as well. The bearing ID is 35mm, and the OD is 40.5mm if anyone is looking for a puller.

It's a shame they wasted your time, but if they don't want to do it, you probably don't want them to either.

2 hours flat rate, new seal every time unless its backordered. The needle bearing paid the same so we use that labour.

I'm in igloo land far far away.

Frame sprayed? With that stuff that dries black? I personally would pass on the dealer spray. Fluid film or use something of the equivalent on an annual basis and do the entire undercarriage. The dealer spray dries and cracks and just delays the inevitable rust. FF keeps on protecting
