Apologies if this has already been discussed, but Toyota dealers are currently having a buy 3 get one free tire deal. Not sure if this is universal across the planet, but all the dealers here in Georgia appear to be running this special. Anyway, I was able to score a set of four 265/75/16 BFG KO2's for $808.00 all in (4 tires, mounting, balancing, tire disposal fee and tax). Also, the dealer throws in a pretty decent 2 year road hazard warranty at no extra charge.

Sure seems like a pretty good price for a set of KO2's but wanted to bounce this off the TW peanut gallery. BTW, I could have gotten a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers for right at $700 with this deal, but for an extra Benjamin, I thought I would give the KO2's a try. Tires will arrive in a few days and I am looking forward to getting something a little beefier on my truck than the stock Goodyear Kevlars.

There's no such thing as a 'free' tire - you can be sure you're paying for it in the bundled price. It's all marketing.

No man, it's legit. They took off the full price for one tire. I am looking at the invoice right now

    Oh look, another mod....
I think a lot of places are doing this right now. It must be "Tire Season". Another member a few weeks back posted that Discount Tire is doing the buy three get the forth free, and it was a legit sale too.

Edit: Let me know if the weight effects your MPG's, I've had my eye on these tires too. I see they're quite heavier than the stock tire (I have the Goodyear Kevlars). I think OEM is 39lbs and the KO2's are 54lbs.

Yeah my former dealer offered this deal, parts jacks the price of tires up enough to not lose money.

I debated taking advantage of this deal but the dealer options were limited and I found a local tire/auto shop that gave me a good deal and I actually got the tires I wanted, and still love after 40k miles.

Oh, I fully expect to lose 1 or 2 mpg but don't really care. I've have had nothing but Nitto's on my FJ for years and really like them. But these KO2's keep catching my eye and this deal for a full set was too good to pass up.

Many times the manufacturer/distributor has a deal with Toyota for promotions like that, so its not like the dealer is eating the cost of one tire. Its most likely coming out of the tire suppliers end passing the savings to you.

The "sale" is on paper only. Sure they subtracted the alleged "price" of one tire off the invoice - divide the bottom line by 4 and that's what you paid for each.
As I said, it's all marketing. They still made a profit off of you.

There are no 3 wheeled cars so be sure you paid for that 4th tire. It’s a scam.

I have a handle on basic math, but thanks for the tutorial anyway. I got a very good deal on a set of very nice tires, why do you have to be such a Debbie Downer? I did the math and it works out to $200 per tire including everything! That is a very good out the door price for a BFG KO2 as I did price them at other places (Discount Tire, etc) and their out the door price is nowhere near $800 for a full set of KO2's installed.

PS: I have no issues if they made a profit, that is what businesses are supposed to do. But that still does not mean I got a decent deal here on a set of tires. BTW, have you ever heard the term "loss leader"? That is all this is. I benefit and they hope I keep coming back to the dealer for other stuff.

Enjoy your day if that is even possible.

you came here to ask if you got a good deal and then answered your own question confirming to yourself you did indeed get a good deal, so what was the point of this thread?

Shipmate, Remember when that recruiter told you of how great it would be to join the Navy? Free food and lodging all while being paid traveling the world on a cruise ship? Of course they left out the part about working in the scullery, 3 section duty, standing watch, etc. This deal is no different. You are not getting a tire for free. You are paying for it. Undoubtedly you didn't check the wholesale clubs like BJs or Costco. You would have found a better deal without the gimmick (although it would include a rebate).

Dude, people on TW love to sit behind the anonymity of their username and be jerks.
Most of them wouldn't act like that to anyone in person. They don't have the stones.

I saw that advertised last night. OP-You got a great deal on the entire package. I always forget to check dealers for tire specials. Wonder is they will only put tires on Toyotas? My wifes Forester is getting due. I bought 2 new Tacoma's from them in 2 years so not sure if that makes a difference.
