very common for people who eat in their cars. Replace the cabin filter and sterilize the intake housing. Completely shampoo the truck, completely, then sell it.

At the Chevy dealer I work at, the most mouse damage I see is in Corvettes stored in garages. We had one totaled by mice. I use Repels All spray, traps and an ultrasonic device to defend my garage.

I had a rat crawl in my fresh air intake of a Grand Am once, 4 day weekend off work to let it bake in the Texas heat, I had to drive with my head out the window when I went back to work. I was surprised I didn’t vomit from the smell.

After removing the rat, I used an enzyme air deodorizer bomb from autozone, run the air on recirc with ac and full blast windows up for 10 mins and let the bomb circulate.

Went from a roadkill smell to drivable after the bomb, and a about a week later you’d never have known.

Wife had one in her Venza. Told me it was making funny noise and not blowing very well. Checked cabin filter, had a small hole chewed through. Mouse was mummified and stuck in the blower fan. Had to take the whole mess apart and clean and disinfect it. Bleach, Lysol and elbow grease! Replaced filter with one that had air freshener in it. Was fine after.

Great to know!!!! I did something like this to my 2nd Tacoma, bought used, from a BAD smoker(I HATE smoke). I didn't want to just cover the smell up(Frebeeze). So I use sprayed the dog enzyme stuff on all fabrics. Totally wouldn't know it after a few days. That enzyme stuff WORKS!!!

Start feeding a stray male cat, just enough to keep him coming around. He'll hunt rodents 24/7. Solved my mouse issue. I went a step further, put a few cat treats on top of a front tire. Now he sleeps on it. He likes the heat, just like a mouse. He will venture into the engine bay (small cat) if he smells/hears a mouse. Jumps out when he hears the door unlock.
After he catches his first mouse there, you won't need treats anymore. He'll be back, and any other cats in the area will be automatically trained.

Not baby mice. However it did appear to be an old nest maybe. This was a one owner 06 i bought just in the last month. He had told me he had never replaced the filter. The truck had a horrible odor. I sprayed a lysol type cleaner throughout the ducting and chaged the cabin air filter. Made a huge difference.

OK! One truck done. A Pain in my A$$, as I could get the whipper arm off(didn't want to chance cracking windshield). So had to work just by bending it up some. One small mummyifided mouse(only saw a skull) in a PILE of dog hair, & no holes in air filter! Truck is parked next to Aussie kennels. My garage is a wood shop right now. Hardware cloth cover on now(It LOOKS like it's designed for a wire cover?????? why doesn't Toyota put one ON!!!!), & sprayed the filter with dog enzyme. Other Tacoma next.

Yes, after 40+ plus years in the trades, almost cut my right arm off with a tablesaw. Chewed up the ulnar nerve, but missed the arteries!!!? Pinky dead,& ring finger almost unless, pinch on the other 2 compromised. I have a hard time holding things, & drop things all the time. Makes finishing my house a lot harder.

You don't need to remove the wipers and that cowl panel to get down in there to clean it out. My truck had a musty smell and there was a lot of pine needles stuck in my fender/door area, so I figured they were down in the cowl area as well. You can pop out a couple of the fasteners and lift the panel up enough to get a shop vac in there to clean it out. Then run the fan at high speed and spray some Lysol down in there. There are a lot of places in a Tacoma where dirt and debris can accumulate and lead to smells and potential corrosion problems so they need to be checked once in a while.
