I like electronic gear in my truck...CB, Radar Detector, GPS, extra lights and so on. And before I added this device - I have left all my electronics ON with the truck OFF resulting in a dead battery condition and wanted to share my solution to avoid a dead battery repeat.

The Havis Charge Guard has been my solution!

    Here is the product webpage:

    http://www.havis.com/products/CHRGGRD_UNV_CNTRLMDL-38782-923.html

I have it wired: Battery - Breaker - 30Amp Fuse - Charge Guard - BlueSea Fuse Block

    It is powering my:
    GPS
    flashing amber/white construction lights
    heated seats
    CB
    Dash Camera
auxiliary USB and 12volt power outlets I added
    other added lights
    Radar Detector

The charge guard has several modes and settings. It can detect voltage when the truck is running and activate (this is how I run it) or you can wire it to the ignition to activate. While activated and passing current, when the truck is turned off, it detects the loss of running power and starts either a countdown timer to deactivate or will monitor the battery voltage until it detects enough battery drop that it deactivates to keep enough charge remaining in your battery to crank the truck.

    It is rated for 30Amps.

I've been running it for a year under the hood (Havis recommends not mounting it there) and it has been perfect.

Thought I'd share and I should mention I have no affiliation with Havis products.
