I am having such a hard time deciding whether I should get the Blackvue DR900s or the Thinkware F800 Pro dashcam. I have researchged the bejesus out of it and still can't come to a decision so I thought I'd get some opinions here. Here are some of the pros and cons of each that I can think of off the top of my head:

    Pros for Blackvue DR900s:
    1. 4K
    2. Better cloud mode
    3. Faster wifi file transfer

    Cons for Blackvue DR900s:
    1. Sticks out like a sore thumb.
    2. More expensive
    3. Upside down if using the builtin Gopro mount.
    4. Cloud mode isn't free.
    5. Higher power consumption.
    6. Video frames are lost on rear cam between files.
    7. Picky about SD cards.

    Pros for Thinkware F800 Pro:
    1. More discrete looking in the window.
    2. Cheaper
    3. Perfectly suited for the builtin Go Pro mount with a minor alteration of the mount.
    4. Lower power consumption.
    5. Faster bootup.
    6. Better parking mode.
    7. Can use phones hotspot to connect to cam.

    Cons for Thinkware F800 Pro:
    1. "Only" 1080P.

I'm sure there is more. Please chime in with your pros and cons. Honestly, I've been leaning towards the F800...today. AAARRRGGGHHH!

without doing any addition research myself, get the F800... not sure why 4K would be that beneficial for dash cam use (unless you’re doing production work).

I'm leaning that way but please tell me why you prefer the F800?

I have Thinkware in my truck, front and back cams. The question is what would you be using it for that would require 4k video?

How do you figure the Blackvue sticks out like a sore thumb? I have mine mounted behind my rear-view mirror and you hardly can see it from the driver's view. Anywhere else in the truck you can't even see it.

That's just my opinion. The thinkware sits flush against the window and the BV doesn't.

I can't even see my DR750s while driving...then again, I don't have TSS, so I had room to mount it out of the line of sight.

Have had an F800 Pro 2 channel for a few weeks now and am satisfied. We've had some -30 degree days and it has booted up fine. The app has worked great for me so far. Nothing bad to say about it.

Yes, I have TSS and want to mount it on the gopro mount. I think the Thinkware is better hidden there than the Blackvue.

Can't go wrong with either option IMO.

I forget mine is there sometimes. I also have the rear cam.

I don't have experience with either but have looked into the blackvue a lot. The 4k can be better at getting plate info if you need to zoom in on it. I also think the black view is more discreet, it's like half the size of the thinkware. I will likely be getting the blackview.

read the site, but if you like paying $400 for a dash cam, by all means

Take a look at some YouTube comparisons. 4K really does make a difference in catching moving license plates. 1080 may not resolve a moving license plate well enough.

I know I’m going for the Blackview 4K… why? Because it’s 4k, it’s thebest resolution available and if I have a dash cam it’s for a specific reason to protect my property and myself. So why not have the best (you can afford?) it also looks sleek and paired with the mirror mount, it’s hidden completely (from looking at pictures)

Everyone has an opinion and it seems a good majority always seems to question why you going for the best (clearest video in this case). I try to overlook these type of posts… It’s no different than any other mod you can do to your truck. I bought the gen5 homelink mirror because it was the latest and others make a button in their dash wiring their actual remote. Everyone has different tastes/needs/budgets. I don’t know anything about lifts but I guarantee it’s the same thing.

Point is I’d say get the best you can afford. I also, personally, only want to buy once (for the most part) and the times I don’t I end up regretting wasting my time and money down the road.

None issue. You rotate the image in the set up.

Huh? All recording devices that write and rewrite constantly require a high quality SD card. I've had a 128 in mine for a year without issue. Cost more than your generic Wally-World offerings, but if you are spending the money to record goings-on around your vehicle, you surely don't want the files getting corrupted by a cheap-ass SD card.

And as for sticking out like a sore thumb, I find the BV on par with the TW as to size and how it mounts.

But honestly, both are great top tier dashcams and you can't go wrong with either.
