    It is plug n play.
You will need the bracket for the hazard/clock module.
Also, 3 of the yellow clips.

Turns out the cable was bad. I swapped it out with another one and reinstalled the DVR. Now everything works. Lucky day!

HEY Guys! I recently purchased a Joying Headunit and wired up my OEM reverse camera to work on my new Android headunit. If anyone wants to do this or is having any problems doing this feel free to reach out to me for help. I would assume it would be the exact same thing as with the Dasaita's or other Android Head Units. Much easier in my opinion then running a whole new camera and all its wiring.

Also, if anyone has any tips on the customization with Car Launchers i have a few questions. 1 of my main questions is. Do you either have to use the Car Launcher App or Apple Car Play App? or does Apple Car Play integrate with the customized Car Launchers? New to android head units and systems altogether so any help is appreciated.

Great timing! I have the same head unit - arrived today. Any guidance on how to wire it to the OEM camera would be much appreciated! Cheers

Two questions, one of which is a repost because it got buried instantly in another discussion lol

My unit can't see my home router, or frankly anything other than my phone hotspot because its only inches away. Has anyone found a better way to improve wifi reception? Im going to try a few bigger antennas but thought i would ask first.

Does anyone have their Dasaita hooked up to a second/house battery so it can be run at any time without running accessory power? Does it suck a lot of power? How do you shutdown/startup?

As to wifi, when I first installed my unit I had oriented the antenna straight back. Connection to my home router would work, but not reliably. In a session where I had it out and reinstalled, I oriented the antenna at a right angle with it maybe 15 degrees from being horizontal. Connection has been consistent and reliable since. I don't have any good reason why this should be, so YMMV.

As to second battery, I don't have anything exotic - still requires key in accessory position to operate. I don't think it takes a lot of parasitic power. I have the Dasaita and a wifi OBD reader installed. I've left it for over a week (during the Freeze in AR with temps -1 on a couple days). It started without issue. The unit is designed to have a "fast start" where it comes out of hibernation quickly. I can use the appropriate dial control to turn it "off" (actually it just hibernates). To really shut it down, I will pull the battery terminal or radio fuse. There may be a native Android command that can do a legitimate power off, but I haven't been motivated to search it out.

    Hey everyone,

I'm trying to get caught up on all 48 pages of information here - I purchased this Dasaita unit on Amazon (link #1) for my 2011 Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 without JBL and with the factory reverse camera screen on the rearview mirror. I'm hoping it will fit without some of the clock / hazard fitment issues listed earlier on in the thread. Some of the amazon reviews mentioned they had no issues - full plug and play - so we'll see. I don't think I'm going to modify my factory brackets, the unit seems light enough that the clips should hold it in place without issues. Although, if anyone has had luck using Metra or Scosche brackets, please let me know - wondering if the brackets from this dash kit would fit (link #2)

It was considerably more than what everyone else seemed to pay for theirs, but I'm guessing I'm paying the amazon premium for 2-day shipping.

I also read elsewhere the factory rearview camera on the Tacomas with the rearview mirror display are super low res - so I purchased this OEM replacement and I am going to direct wire it to the new HU (link #3). I like the fact that this camera has the leading lines built into the camera. - Hopefully it's not too difficult a job.

There's a lot of info on this thread already, but I will attempt to document my install and share with you all.

    -A.

I'll just throw this out there - there are industrial strength stick-on velcro squares that can be used to hold the radio to bracket. I think each one holds 10lbs. With the clips available top and bottom, I think you're good to go but the velcro is the belt to the suspenders.

On the backup camera - beware using the the builtin guidelines. I used a different flavor on my old '00 Tundra, but the camera's lines were way off. I had a HU that could provide it's own guidelines but the camera lines were still in frame.

thanks for the advice! I can always turn off the built in guidelines on the camera I purchased! But good to know for sure.

So actually I probably should have posted about this way earlier, but I was hoping to have a successful install before I did... turns out designing a bracket for the clock/hazard switch is harder than I thought it would be!

I've been designing/testing a 3d printable bracket for the clock/hazard switch from later model year 2nd gen tacomas that will fit onto my Dasaita head unit (Same one as mentioned at the beginning of this thread). Its been like 8 iterations of the design already haha, but if you're curious here's the link to the CAD model on OnShape. Tacoma Clock/Hazard Bracket for Dasaita I've got the bracket mounted into the head unit, but I want to do a final fit test before I make a little article about it.

If you have trouble getting the bracket to work with your stock clock/hazard switch, let me know! Maybe this could help get it to work.

Wow that’s awesome! I will definitely let you know. I know nothing about 3D printing, but that’s cool that you were able to do that.

I finished my install today. I had no issues with the install. Everything worked as it should and fit perfectly. I ran 3 USB inputs. One to the glove box, 1 replaced extra cig lighter, and 1 to the empty slot next to aux. Also installed a front facing camera. Works perfectly! I tapped into the reverse indicator to prep for a future reverse cam install. Ended up using the advice on here and mounting the GPS antenna right on top of the unit. It’s spotty but works - I’ll likely use Apple Maps more anyway.

Here’s a photo of the final product. More photos in my album labeled “Dasaita install” if you want to see more.

Only “issue” I ran into was the unit came with an external mic. So I ran it to the drivers side-but then noticed there’s no mic input on the back at all!! Oh well, the built in mic works well. Just sucks I did the extra work.

I’m very thankful for this thread! Reading through it before hand prepared me for some of the challenges. Seriously made this worthwhile and it turned out epic!
