Hey guys! So I'm new to the forums but I have some problems with my 1999 v6 prerunner Tacoma. Recently it began to idle very rough and i had a big loss in power. My check engine light came on so got it check and it came up as Cylinder 1&2 misfiring. I then changed both O2 sensors and bought a new MAF sensor along with new plug, wires, and coils. But I'm still having the same problem. Does anyone know what it could be?

    Wow Kody,

You have definitely done your homework, and have eliminated all of the obvious culprits. You even replaced the coils. Unfortunately, I don't have any viable solutions for you. Sorry. The only thing I can possibly think of is that it could have something to do with the ECU.

    Good Luck,
    Paul

Not enough to have a build thread.
    Compression? Injector failure?

I wasnt to worried about replacing the parts because I like to keep my maintance up as much as possible but yeah ima try adding a fuel injector clearner and watch that video to see if i can hear if the injectors are running poor. i give an update when im finished.

    Kody,

Crodell and FirstTimer have given you some good advice here. The other thing you can do is reset the ECU if you have not done it already by disconnecting your battery.

    Take it easy,
    Paul

The plugs seemed fine and the wires were in good condition. I could tell that they were changed recently before i purchased the truck being that im the second owner. The ignition coils had a little bit of corrosion that cleaned up and after that didnt work i then replaced them but still not getting results

Thats what Im thinking since these problems began to happen after splashing through some puddles and mudding. But wouldn't that just mean that replacing the plugs, wires, and coils solve the problem or am i looking at a more costly fix like new fuel injectors?

hahaha "I had to pull over to write this" well thank you for your help by the way youve been very helpful!
I just cleaned my throttle body and IAC when I installed my K&N intake along with my new MAF sensor after I went splashing around. But I definitely will try disconnecting my ICM and reset the ECU. Maybe check my vacuum lines and if anything run some seafoam through and see were that will get me.

OP, also another way to reset the ECU without disconnecting the battery is to pull the EFI fuse under the hood for a couple minutes.

Ran compression check everything tested out fine. Changed 3 out of the 6 fuel injectors and now its running a lot better but I think one of my injectors is still a little clogged also my check engine light came back on so I am going to finish replacing the other 3 injectors and change out the fuel filter and that should do the trick.

    Hey Kody,
After changing out all 6 fuel injectors did that solve your problem?

I am in the exact same situation as you.
Check engine light is on and loss of power and I replaced all the same parts. You did and no results. I’m trying to figure if my next step is changing out the Fuel injectors.

I had this exact same problem last week. Cyl 1 and 2 Misfire (different coilpack) So I replaced all six injectors with OEM rebuilds. Problem solved. When you take off the fuel rails make sure to get six of the aluminum washers. Mine were pretty squished when I removed them and I'm certain they wouldn't have sealed again properly.
