I once put 4 Cardone CV axles in my '95 Taurus SHO, one right after the other. I'm not talking about a week or a day between, I'm talking about not even getting back from a test drive and 1 self destructed, 1 tulip came apart before I even left the lot, and 2 boots blew out slinging axle grease everywhere.

Cardone sucks dead donkey dicks. Keep looking.

As far as I know, RCV is the best aftermarket option.

However, if the CV shaft isn't your weak point, your differential will be. Cv axles literally take 20 minutes to replace. I'd rather bring an extra cv shaft with me and have that blow out instead of the diff.

Try CVJ axles, they are rebuilt OEM axles and the strongest for our truck. Price isn't bad either considering toyota wants $350 per CV

The ones from Oreilly/shucks come with a lifetime warranty (masterpro brand). They are $70 per side. Buy three, then when you break one on the trail (you will, no matter the brand) take the broke one in to the store and get a new one. $210. CV's for life. Don't worry about it anymore.

If you want the strongest CV's made, get some custom made. Porsche inners with 300M shafts would be the way to go.

If you want the strongest axle you can get. Go Lotus or RCV. Lotus cost $500 a piece and RCV cost $1,000 a piece but you'll never break them.

But that also means that you're making you diff the weak link.

From the research I've done it seems that CVJ is the best inbetween. They're not the strongest but are stronger than autozone axles and have high angle boots.

A buddy just out cardones on his 4runner, ended up giving harsh vibes and being total shit. Just got oem from a wrecker.

CVJ's I've heard to be good too

Why do you think you need stronger axles anyway?

I don't know him, so I'll take your word for it.

Like I said though...it's real easy to R&R an axle on the trail.

    That's a good question..

the stock OEM 2nd gen Tacoma and FJ CV's and shafts are strong and shouldn't be a concern to most owners

Of all the crawling and fast stuff I've done I have only broken one outer CV. And that was from lack of trail experience...trying to reverse while at full steering lock while hung up on rocks.

thanx for all the input guys....dont need stronger ones per say but my boots on my stock ones are torn to shit and there still going strong on 35's somehow but i didnt wanna pay oem price and didnt want to put cheap crappy metal in there either just wanted to see what others have had luck with... CVJ's seem like my best option...my plan is to replace both and put new LT boots on my 2 stock ones with fresh greash and keep those as my spares...
