CHANGED MY MIND GO TO THE BOTTOM!

Is there any reason I couldn’t just cut the wires going into my turn signals and wire them into my existing corner light bulb connector and totally get rid of the daytime running lights? There both just a power and ground. Would the power difference be to much for the existing DRL bulb and socket ?

    Here’s the diagrams

You definitely can, however, the corner running lights aren't as bright as the turn signals in the bumper. Turn signal bulbs are an 1156 and the ones in the running lights are tiny 194's.

If you were to do that I would recommend LED swap (they make them in 194) and get them in Amber color. Light bulb model: Sylvania 194A

The running lights are clear see through so that's why i recommend going with the amber bulbs, this way they actually look like turn signals.

My corner lights are part amber but I think I’m gonna do what you said and go with an amber led. If I do go with that led I’m going to need some kind of restrictor correct to make it flash the right speed?

Well since you are only putting LEDs in the front only it may still be fine and it wont "hyperflash", however if you get hyperflashing (like a blinker is out and your turn signal flashes rapidly) you have 2 options:

    1) Replace the blinker relay with an LED flasher module.
    Part# CF13GL-02
    2) add a resistor/equalizer in line with the Led.

Easiest just to swap the relay. It works with regular 1157 bulbs and LEDs in the same line. You can get it on ebay for like 10 bucks shipped. Just google the part number I provided.

Adding resistors honestly is just a pain in the ass (IMO) plus you gotta hide them and get the right resistance and ones with heat sinks which make sure they don't overheat cost at least 10-15 a pop.

I would go with option 1.

I wouldn't. You are then cutting out your "running lights" which are required by law.

Most DRL are headlights, but you say yours are the side marker lights?

Don't you cut one green wire to one light and the other green wire to the other light and just switch and rewire and to avoid hyper flash you just put a resistor in between the green wires that you just cut? This is what i'm picking up from whats been put down about this topic.

DRLs have a separate circuit mixed in. The "running" and "turn signal" lights are standard on all vehicles.

You need a dual function bulb if you want to retain the running light and the turn signal. the 194 that currently resides in the marker light housing is a single function bulb.

Same thing with the turn signal bulb in the Tacoma, the 1156 (95-00) and 3157 (01-04) are single function. At least on the 01-04 the harness is capable of dual function, you just need to add a wire and buy a "CK" style bulb otherwise you will continually blow fuses.

This is the reason most of the mods add the larger bulb in the marker housing or add an additional bulb below the current one.

So in typical fashion I’ve changed my mind and ordered some new corner lenses and am currently retrofitting dual filament 1157 bulbs in them. I still have a couple more questions.

I’m going to wire my new signals this way and totally eliminate the lower turn signal and move it into my corner light. Do you think I’ll be able to run both grounds on my new dual filament 1157 socket from drl and turn signal circuits or will I have to keep those grounds separate?

    Here’s some progress pics

Was thinking about milling them down at my shop but ended just shaving them with a razor blade. There gonna fit nicely.

Anyone have any good ideas on a retention solution besides just using some kind of silicone?

I just cut the green wires, added led resistor, rewired and success. I highly recommend having extra wire, cause the two green wires don't have much slack to play with. Now i'm going to order LEDs all around, but mostly for my (new turn signal) because its very dim when you put your blinker on. Bad enough where drivers in front of me probably can't see my turn signal. Hoping LEDs clear that up.

I believe someone found a set of 1157 holders that had a mounting tab on them. Forgot who..
