I wanted to have a more modular center console. I searched and searched and could not find anything that fit my needs or wants so I decided to make my own.

    Here is the factory center

Need to take back out and paint and or Plasti-dip. The panels are similar to the panels found in police car consoles. I made a series of 1", 2", 3", 4" and a 7" for the shifter. I lost my cup holders for now. I need to find a set and see if a stock set will fit. if not i have the two at the back of console. Feels alot better to use items. Lost one outlet on upper console but I plan on adding 3 or 4 more in a panel.

This will also serve as a feeler if people might be interested in having one themselves. I will have to work out what the cost will be once I can locate some pcs.

    Get the feed back coming.:D

Now that you have a template of sorts, why not cut one piece of metal to fit with more evenly spaced screws IMO would look a lot better. I commend you for going at it though.

I like this idea. I would take one add a larger cup holder in the rear (factory can't even hold a regular 20oz coke) then whenever I need/want to add switches I could just cut and go...

Props to you OP good idea.

have you thought of covering w/bedliner or carbon fiber vinyl wrap once your done? Lots of room left over for a switch bank or outlets. What gauge sheeting did you use and what did you use to cut it?

For all the nay-sayers, it looks like the OP is involved with fire/ems/races. etc. This type of a console is what is used in police cars and fire/ems vehicles to mount radios, switches, and sirens. It doesn't look like much right now, but I give props to the OP. Save all your measurements, I would love to do something like this someday!

As long as there are cup holders, lol.

x2. Never ever get to see something like this on a Taco. Usually it's in Ford Expedition or Explorers, Chevy Silverados, Tahoes, or Suburbans and Dodge Rams.

Mind you all those trucks I listed, I have seen in the fire departments here on Long Island, all with the custom consoles for the chief's vehicles.

Looking forward to the end result of this...

Not my thing (yet), since I don't see any benefit over what was there to begin with, but since it is a work in progress I am looking forward to see how it works out.
I do respect having the balls to do something like this though.

Looks cool! Curious to see the final product.

You know there's that Weather Channel "lifeguard" show that uses these in the field. You could produce them or sell them your design and make a few bucks!! And then as a good will gesture, float 15% my way so I can buy cool shit, like customized center consoles, which I'm not creative enough to do on my own. ;)

looks like it needs some refining, but has good potential! try countersinking the screw holes and pair them with the proper screws, for a flush finish.
