    Hello,

New to the Tacoma forum. This might be a dead issue, However I saw a really nice custom TRD battery hold down and was curious if still available. Have a 2nd gen 4.0 and would really like to get one.

    cheers!

Used an aluminum flat bar from home depot cut down and drilled 2 holes big enough for the stock plastic bushings.

Is there a functional point to an upgraded hold down?

Dealer sold me an OEM battery, that's larger size for more winter cranking amps. I think the heavy duty version. Parts dept guy told me that's all they sell and recommend. It fit just fine.

Have had zero issues with the hold down. It's thin flimsy cheap stamped metal, which may be a good thing if any slight bending means it holds tension/downward pressure on the battery.
Versus something solid/billet without deflection, that places all the stress on tiny threaded rods at each end.

Is there an actual point to blowing $50-100 on a metal bracket, functionality-wise?
Let alone restricting yourself to being stuck with one particular type of bracket, that may not fit if you change to a different type of battery later on?

Or is it just for looks?

I've gotta say. If anything/out of all the brands, I'd probably want to go with SDHQ.
It looks like they're the only one that also offers upgrade J-hooks; and their clamp price is cheaper than competitors as well
I'm very happy with the terminal kit upgrade I have from them (still running strong); and this would match
