I am about halfway through restoring the frame on my 04 Tacoma. I would like to remove, paint and reinstall these three crossmembers. Realistically the rear most one may be the only possible one to remove...

I did some searches but can't find anyone having removed them, mostly looking for gotchas and stuff...

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
The Chassis is out from under the truck with the power train removed.

You want to cut off the cross members to paint them then weld them back on?

The transmission support should be out from when the transmission and case were removed.

I only removed the ones that were replaced with new ones.

If you remove them make sure to attach strong enough material to keep the frame from twisting and moving .

Your project if you feel it is the only way yet your still going to address the burnt off paint from the welding.

    Good luck !
