If you want responses you might want to ask about creepy , scary things people have experienced in the wilderness. Most of the strange things I’ve seen on trail cams are just not that clear to make any definitive observation.

I volunteer with a local SAR team. I've helped carry out several bodies. If you find them soon enough, especially in cool weather it isn't too bad. If more than a few months have passed it's just a bunch of bones, shoes, clothes, cell phones etc. scattered over a wide area. Sometimes as large as a basketball court. It takes hours to find most of them even with cadaver dogs. You never find everything. The ones that drown or are found in water are the worst.

A few years ago, we found a guy who had been missing 2 weeks. He died in a low-lying area near a stream which had flooded, probably after he died. He was floating in about 1' of water. Imagine the scariest thing you've ever seen in a horror movie and this was worse. When we started putting him in the body bag thousands of insects ran out of every body opening. Some of those openings weren't natural but from decomposition.

In the Amazon Basin it gets worse, I understand ... at least according to PBS programs. They have catfish species that are the stuff of nightmares. One is small (about 3 inches long) that lives below 100 ft of water (fortunately below that only) that go inside a carcass that sunk that deep, work inside the carcass and then empty the insides ... like those insects you mentioned.

I am not sure if ignorance is bliss or just setting myself up as a target ...

I've been asked to go on SAR.

I saw a Snipe in a bush on a camping trip. Still, to this day, nobody believes me.

In a remote area of the Nevada desert near where we shoot, we found what looked like a grave somebody had dug.

Three days later, on the way out, we saw it had been filled.

Walked into a new hunting spot in southern New Hampshire well before daylight. I sat on the ground with my bow under a tree. Something screamed at me for several seconds so I turned my flashlight on and it stopped. No other sounds. Turns out to have been a barred owl. They have quite a repertoire of different vocalizations, including blood curdling screams as it turns out. Then fly away on quiet feathers so you never know if they are still there!!!
Another time I was walking in to my hunting spot predawn, without a light, and heard a nearby gunshot. I dropped to the ground and started whistling while I searched for my light. I got up and continued on my way (lights on). I crossed a ravine and a guy in orange stands up from behind a bush and walked away. Never said anything!!?

Fishing Guadalupe Island on a longe range fishing trip...
Right beside the boat, just below the surface in crystal clear deep purple blue water, just chilling waiting for us to reel in our large tuna so she can get an easy meal...

I was on a guided night hike in a city park (years ago before AZ). I had just enough light to see an owl fly past but did not hear anything ... damned spooky.
