Came across this video, search yielded no results in the 4th gen realm on the subject.

Now I will sneak back out of the deep dark abyss that is the 4th gen forum… :crapstorm:

If the card will work from your wallet then cool, but if you have to put it somewhere in order to read it then a little gimmicky. Although I am sure my rfid blocking wallet will make it useless. I think it is on premium packages and limited model.

It works just fine in your wallet. My wallet is RFID blocking as well.

I have had one for my third gen for like 5 years at this point. I will never have keys again. Only drawback is the battery is small so it dies in about two years, and you can't unlock without touching the truck.

Digital Key is available from Toyota for the third gen? Or are you using something aftermarket?

I’m not a fan. I already carry keys for my house, work, hitch rack, ski rack, etc. Why not just have the truck key with them all in the same place. Not a huge fan of push button start either because I’m not going to drive with my keys in my pocket so I’m taking them out anyways. Might as well stick them in the ignition instead of a cup holder.

Has it been confirmed that Tacomas will come with two key fobs at delivery time?

I don't know if Toyota ever got around to giving Tundra buyers two keys at delivery time. It was only one key, and you had to order a 2nd fob at arranged a dealer visit to have the key programmed.

That’s lame. Since when did every new car not come with at least two keys, some get a valet key too. Were they charging for the second key?

I can't recall customers being charged and hope that's not the case. Still have to spend your time getting the key programmed, something that should have been done before the Monroney sticker ever went on the window. I could see if it was a security measure where no one could snag the 2nd fob during transport.

Because I carry no keys. Period. My house locks and unlocks from my phone, my truck unlocks from the key card.

I’m happy that I could still buy a 2022 model year vehicle with no keyless entry and with a physical key that you can use to at least open the driver’s door and start the engine.

Use a rideshare or autonomous taxi own no car or car key. That's more advanced than vehicle ownership.

I like not being able to get into my house because of a battery fault, WiFi, or a power failure.

Most of those systems have backup methods.
