Greetings. I have the horrid squeak and creak in the seals of the doors of my access cab Taco. I've never greased or cleaned the rubber weatherstripping since I've bought it new, ashamed to say. I've heard silicone grease will do the trick, I also hear the flipside that it will deteriorate the rubber over time. What's safe to use on this expensive stripping?

Anyone try this stuff? It contains petroleum distillates, wouldn't that deteriorate the stripping?

In my '15 AC, I clean the rubber stripping and wax the painted channel and it seems to clear up the creaking.

I think dielectric grease is what is typically recommended for that type of "foamy", soft rubber. But there's also products like this that you can use (I've used it and it's good stuff):

I do the same thing. Just hit that area with some wax (the part of the door that the seal rests against when it's closed), when I'm waxing it normally anyway, and it keeps it nice and quiet.

I find that the silicon lubricant for treadmills works great for all rubber (sunroof seals, door seals, trunk seals, etc.). It's messy but I use a glove and small cloth - go over all rubber seals - it cleans the gunk off and leaves a protective film of lubrication that won't deteriorate rubber. But, don't get it on windows or anything you don't want it on because it can be difficult to clean.

I know you guys have done a lot to remedy the creeking door problem. I just going to say it but has anyone just replaced the door seal itself. After spending time and money to try and temp fix the issue why not replace the seal seems like a more permanent fix to me. I have a 2010 and my door creeks but it does not do it all the time more of a random situation. I have a friend on the inside at Toyota that is going to get me a new seal at dealer cost. He is going to get back to me tomorrow for the price. If is a good deal would anyone else be interested in getting new seals. Just asking.

I ordered a new passenger side seal a month ago. Still waiting for Toyota to release them the regional warehouses.

I can't imagine they can be that much. The doors will probably sound much better, and feel more solid when closing them also. Let us know how much, and how they turn out.

I tried several different solutions, including repeated cleaning, applying wax, frictionless tape, etc. and the creaking would always come back after a few weeks. Eventually I found a YouTube video of someone recommending Factory Team Silicone Differential Fluid (5000 cst) and, amazingly, the stuff worked! I apply it 1x per year and have been squeak free for the past 3 years. I figured I’d post this solution in the hope that I can help others avoid the frustration of trial and error with some of the other proposed solutions.

I wipe with soapy water and apply some good ol' Vaseline to the rubber. Been doing this once a year in the fall. The 18yo seals still looking fine.
