I up graded tires, and made a swing away mount for the spare. With the space under the bed free, just wondering if anyone has ever seen a tank design for that area?

Yeah, the Ford Pinto in the late 70's had a fuel tank in the back.

Ford had serious problems with the arrangement. Many Pintos were BBQ'd after being hit in the rear.

Long Range Automotive (LRA) already makes one. They are out of Australia but there are importers. They also make a high capacity 34 gallon replacement for the main tank.

Mercedes-Benz used to make a nifty one that fit inside the spare tires on some models.

And Scott Brady, on the original Expeditions West Gen 1 DC, mounted, I think, an Isuzu Trooper plastic fuel tank as an auxiliary when the spare got moved to a swing away. I'm sure that information has been archived tons of places -- it was pretty well known circa 2004-5.

Jeeps, Suburbans, and all Trophy Trucks have their fuel cells in the back with no issues. Pintos weren’t the only vehicle with a tank in the back, however they had design flaws with their fuel supply and storage design causing them to be so dangerous unfortunately.

First gens have a bit more room in the back since their frames aren’t dovetailed but here’s a thread on using a 42 gallon tank from a Suburban.

Here’s a tank Solo Motorsports makes to go under the bed:

Agreed. I doubt I’d ever need this but the idea is interesting. A donut the size of a tire could hold some camping gear. Also a good place for a spare tire which works for me lol

    That’s awesome!

This^^. There’s a “show off your 3d prints thread with someone that printed a bracket (shared the files too) and mounted a small rotopax style tank inside their spare. Cool little set up.
