Hello all. I have no idea what to do at this point. This is the third time I have had issues with my truck in past few months. First tranny issues and had a lot of work done while that was being done. One of the things that ended up being done was all of the belts and crankshaft pulley. I just threw my power steering and alternator belts and looking at the work done i noticed that my crankshaft appears to be 1/4 inch out of alignment with the rest of my accessory pulleys. What could be the issue to see such a drastic misalignment?

    Vehicle in Question is a 1998 toyota tacoma 4x4 3.4L V6

Essentially crankshaft pulley sits 1/4 towards the rear of the truck when compared with the rest of the pulleys.

Is the key in correctly and did you check the torque on the crank bolt?

To be honest I'm just starting to look at it myself after having it done "professionally" haven't touched it yet since I may still be able to get some of the work done on warranty of previous service. I can visually inspect and tell the crankshaft pulley is about 1/4 inch aft of every other accessory pulley. I'm really regretting not doing the work myself at this point due to how many issues I've had since but had so much going on I just needed it done.

If you look at the picture the crankshaft pulley is on bottom for orientation. If you look it has a flange that is about 1/4 inch wide by the looks of it maybe smaller that appears to be aligned with the forward part of the fans pulley which does not have a flange.

Is it a two piece? Just wondering if the forward two belts would line up if it was a two piece that was assembled wrong. Just a guess. Btw, does the rear most belt line up?

If the crankshaft pulley were 1/4 inch ish forward ALL belts would line up. As it is now none of them do.

Heres a question is it the crank shaft pulley thats not lined up or the fan pulley, im banking more on the fan pulley.

Both pics here look to be from the same angle. Op, look at micc’s pic and compare the rear most crank pulley with yours. It is further back from the bolt in micc’s pic. And, I can not see your timing marks like I can on micc’s.

Every pulley but the crankshaft pulley is too far forward by 1/4 inch if it is not the crankshaft pulley.

I'm completely missing timing marks based off of when my harmonic balancer broke which it's replacement is now this which I am having issues with.

Theres supposed to be a ring that goes behind the pulley for the crank shaft sensor maybe thats whats missing causing it to be in more?

Yeah its not a large difference. I'm pretty new to actually working on my own vehicle and haven't had to do anything in relation to this before. Is there a way to adjust the "depth" setting on a crankshaft pulley? Cause to me everything appears to be in the right place except that. This was "professionally" done and clearly not done right.

But you should have a check engine light if that were the case

I'm guessing the No. 1 fan pulley got installed backward. ??
